We will visit here (but won't get to do the tour because once again we didn't get reservations)

but atleast I'll get to see one of my favorite dogs :)
Shafer Wine by the way.....oh yummmy.

But feeling a good kindof hung over (is there such a thing?)

Anyway, we'll come home.
And then there's Scotts!

"Changing Seasons III"

Okay, I'm lovin doin these abstracts!  I've never thought of myself as an "abstract" kind of person, but I think as I get older, I'm becoming more "abstract".
You know, we do that.  Did you know that?
I've seen it in the design industry.  Some people as they age become more contemporary.
I think it has to do with accumulating a bunch of stuff when you're in your 20s, 30s, and 40s and by the time you're in your 50s you are ready to declutter.  Time to get real and get rid of all the "stuff" you don't use or need.  Unfortunately, as the times change, your kid's tastes change and they usually don't want your "stuff" that you want to get rid of.  Well, unless it's from Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware.
so......I'm ready to de-clutter!
It's like clothes.  If you hold on to them, by the time you loose all that weight you say you're gonna lose, they will be out of style by the time you lose it.  In my case, if I ever do.
De-cluttering my closet too btw.
My favorite consignment shop needs to get ready.  Actually Patricia, if your reading, I need for you to come out to the lake and take whatever you think will sell in your lovely shoppe. SOON!!! Like in the next couple of weeks!!!  I'm serious!
Okay, what does any of this have to do with art?
I'm just typin away huh?
My newest abstract:
"Changing Seasons III"
30 x 30 Mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas
950.00

Something about this painting gives me energy.  It just sparks something deep down inside of me.  I can't really put my finger on it!  I was looking at it earlier because that's what I do.  I sit and stare at my paintings forever before I finish them to make sure they are exactly like I want them.
I decided that if I saw this painting out, I would want to take a picture of it and try to copy it.
This is when I know I've nailed a painting!!!
Hope you enjoy looking at it!!!
e-mail me with interest.  Available immediately!
Have a wonderful day y'all!

Changing Seasons

As the seasons change, so does my painting.  I tend to follow the seasons, particularly fall.
You know when I would do Interior Design work, I would tell my clients it was not good to decorate your house when a season changed.  This is only MY humble opinion, I just felt like people were drawn so far to one end of the spectrum, that they steered away from the "timeless" look that I was always struggling to help create.
Unfortunately, we all tend to do that, and it's okay to change up pillows, or really even art if it makes YOU feel good.  It's YOUR house and how you feel in it is what matters.
Just keep the rest simple!
So, I'm (a little bit) over my painter's block.  Actually, I've been going through somewhat of a move this week and I'll be honest, the last two weeks have been an adjustment.  I am leaving my life at the lake to go back to the big city!!! We will still have our home there for the weekends until it sells but for right now, I am making my home back in Atlanta with sweet "W".  I have been moving my art studio here which is a bit of an adjustment and going from a 7 bedroom home to a 2 bedroom condo is as well, but it's really kindof nice to be honest not to have all that stuff to take care of!  It's also really nice not to be so isolated!  AND, I'm an hour closer to the kids!!!
So, like I said, as the seasons change so does my art.  I'm trying my hand at some abstracts, so you will be seeing more and more abstracts in my collections!
So, my latest ones

"Shout OUT!!!!"

Okay, I'm over my painter's block, ready to get up and paint up a storm today.  I may even take it outside!!!
What did it?
Well, yesterday I decided to pamper myself.
A two hour mani/pedi.
So, I HAVE to give a HUGE shout out to my new friends over at Eminence Nail and Spa.
It's right in the heart of Buckhead but you kindof have to look for it.  Just send me a little note and I'll tell you the location.  The great thing about this is that if you come to Atlanta for a girls trip, this place is HUGE and can accomodate large crowds.
and....
Whateva you want they do fo you.
My feet are a challenge y'all.
First of all, I have tennis feet, meaning my toenails do not grow.  They get smashed into the end of my tennis shoe. Basically, they have to look for the toenail. (I'm serious) And, I have to have gel nails because my hands are always in water.
Anyway, Daisy and Holley to the rescue.  I honestly have never been so pampered in my life, complete with a hot stone massage on my arms and legs.  I was like a limp rag.
Also, what I thought was a great, great rule to have in a Vietnamese nail salon.  If they talk within themselves in a different language than English, they have to pay the owner 5.00!  Brilliant for when you feel like they are talking about you :)
see!
and, can you do this?  my one claim to fame.  I can cross my baby toes over my forth toe without any help from my hands!!!
Have a wonderful, beautiful day y'all!!!

Painter's Block.......ughhhhhh!

I've heard about it, but it's never really happened.
What is it????
That dreaded ...... painter's block.
I am reminded of 2 weeks ago when I sat and watched "Jim" one of my favorite painters at Scott's.  I sat there and watched him look at a canvas that he prepped.  It actually was beautiful the way he prepped it, with soft burn umber colors graduating to a soft white at the top, but he sat there for three days looking at it.  I said "hey Jim!" "in my best truck driver voice" "I coulda painted 14 paintings by the time you finish that one"  heheh!  Sweet Jim just laughed at me.
It's a real thing y'all!
I have to have 40 paintings ready for an upcoming art show in Brentwood, TN and another 20 for a back to back art show in Collierville, TN.  Whew, October is gonna be busy.  In between that, I have Scott Antiques!  Okee dokee!
I just took 2 weeks off (if any of you were wondering where I went) and spent some quality family time down in Birmingham.  Much needed for my heart and soul.  Now I need to get back on that horse and do what I (think) I know to do! Slap some paint on that canvas!
Get ready y'all!
have a wonderful day!
(oh, and how about this glorious weather????)

Jack

See that young man in the back?  It's hard to peek through this good lookin family and see him but he's there.  His name is Jack.  And today he turns 18.  To say he has been an inspiration in my life is an understatement.  I will tell you that from my point of view they don't come much better than him.
His faith has shown me how you get through the day no matter what life deals you and keep that smile (and faith) going.
I love this kid to death!
Happy "18th" Birthday Jack from an ole soul that admires you more than anyone on this earth.
I love you buddy!

"A Spiritual Awakening"

This is my latest painting.
"A Spiritual Awakening"
It is a work in progress, just like me.
It is for my own private collection.
Something for me to look at every morning when I wake up to remind me that my life is a constant struggle.  I am like the sailboat depicted floundering in the waves. Searching in uncharted territories. There are angels everywhere to protect me from myself and the demons that are a constant reminder.....
But, there are bluer skies that await this tumultuous situation.
The sailboat will find calmer seas.
Sunshine awaits this wayward crew.
It takes many to weather this storm.  But with God's love He will wrap his arms around all of us and protect us.

Tennis and Art....

I'm going to stray away from my (try to stay positive attitude for a moment)!!!
First of all yesterday pretty much sucked.
My partner and I absolutely got our butts wiped off the court.
I mean it was a gool ole fashion arse kickin.
We managed to pull out one game, but besides that we barely even won any points!
AND we really played pretty decent.
Reminder to self...NEVER play those two girls ever again.
In my teams defense, the team we played got moved down this season from AA2 AND added a AA1 player.......I think our captain had a few choice words for their captain. (rightfully so)
SO,  then I rushed down to Scott Antiques (um South Building L-10) and I'm serious y'all only a handfull of people came yesterday!!!
Must be the new hours.
I set up my art in my tennis gear so I'm sure I looked humerous!
then, a painting stuck to another one in the car and ripped paint off of the canvas.
Jim (one of the other artist) to the rescue!
So.... he is an oil painter.
I've never painted with oils.
I used his oil paint to fix the painting.
I started and couldn't stop!  I loved it!
What happened then?
I looked down and had blue oil paint all over my new favorite orange tennis skirt.
Good Grief!
What a day!
The only good thing about yesterday?
It gave me an excuse to indulge in this
Yesterday was nothing that a little baklavia couldn't fix!
Come on over to Scotts!!!

NEW Art For Scotts!

Hey y'all!
First of all, hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day!  I know we did!! Had Callen's birthday on Friday, then we headed back to the lake for the rest of the weekend and celebrated Evey's 4th birthday yesterday!  She was adorable and I simply cannot believe she is already 4!!! Seems like it was just yesterday that we were building our house and Jordan called me to tell me the ultrasound said IT'S A GIRL!!!  I think I screamed as loud as I could and I'm sure everyone on the lake heard me!!!
Gosh I love that kid!
Okay, back to my topic for the day.  I've been a painting maniac! I'm serious.
Scott Antiques is this weekend and I am bringing mostly new art.
First some housekeeping.
If you are planning to go to Scott Antique Market they WILL NOT let you in the doors until 12:30 Thursday.
They typically let everyone in while the vendors are setting up but they have changed that due to safety issues.
So, if you arrive there at 7 a.m. you will have wasted your time.
Designers usually get there really early and scarf up all the goodies but not no mo.
So....
Here are some of the pieces I'll be showing:

Happy Birthday Callen!

Well, today my youngest starts her 25th year of life.
She's has so many beautiful memories in this short time on earth.
She's also had some trials and tribulations.
To say I'm proud of her is an understatement.
She is accomplished in what she does and she overcomes the little bumps that get in her way.
Her beauty surrounds her and she loves beautiful things!
We had a wonderful little gathering for her at a Japanese Steak House
(I mean really who DOESN'T' love fry rice?)
Houston and Callen are off their Payleon  or whatever you call it diet and were ready for TWO helpings of fry rice.
Everyone in our immediate family came (even Gregory and Amy who sweetly drove up from Birmingham and drove back the same night) and of course Houston was there!
poor Jordan.  She was really sick so she and Eric stayed home last night with Baby Cakes.
Anyway, pics were taken!!!
omg. I can't tell you how wonderful this cake was.......

what is wrong with this picture?
 and um this one?
(I'm about to implement a new rule when we eat dinner)
 Aunt Boo

 yep, looks good to me!
they have so much fun together!

Houston and "W" both have the look of oooooh on their faces!

 it took just one blow!

Bennet gave up on the fork

 then offered me some.....
Happy Birthday Callen!!!
Hope your next 25 years is full of the joy and excitement you have given me!
I love you sweetie!!!
