If You Get the Chance......

to come to Highlands, North Carolina, GO.  What a beautifully, quaint city with an amazing old hotel sitting right in the midst called The Old Edwards Inn.  Enter The King and Queen of England....aka W and Kendall Boggs.  We have been treated like we are.   We witnessed some of the most beautiful scenery surrounding Highlands on our way over from Cherokee.  And ya know?  I don't know what has gotten in to me, but ever since I saw that  80 yr. old woman who parachuted out of an airplane strapped to her instructor when the harness came loose and the instructor held on to her the whole way down, I have decided to just GO for stuff. Hey, if she's got the nerve to do stuff like that, so do I!  She has inspired me to let go of my inhibitions! UT OH WORLD, HERE I COME!
First, the scenery!

about right here, I told "W" STOP THE CAR!!!  I got out of the car on the curvy road we were on and climbed under the guard rail down the slippery moss covered, copperhead invested (JK) rocks to provide you with this pic.  See what I mean??

 on to golf!

 the scenery was amazing!

brag a-holic....this is what I shot from!
and that's where it landed for the birdie!
again, that's what I shot down from. (I'm only telling you this because it's so rare that this happens!)

outside our hotel room, the flowers are so beautiful!  They are dying from heat in Georgia

 on to dinner!
we met up with our wonderful friends Sissy and Larry Long and went to truly one of the best restaurants I have ever been.  It's called the Canyon Kitchen in Cashiers, NC.  What sold me on this was that the chef from Blackberry Farms is now the chef here.  If you've ever been to Blackberry Farms, you know that the food there is spectacular.  I (we) really thought this restaurant, the ambiance, and just everything about it was better than the French Laundry in Napa (sorry Slim Paley if you're reading)!!! (you need to come over to my part of the country!!!, xo)
they grow all of their greens right on the premises!
and they can their own fruits!
Our wonderful friends who are two of the happiest people I know!!!

wouldn't you love to have a house like this up on that mountain?
after I had had to many a few blackberry mojitos.  YUM
the presentation of my flank steak was spectacular.  A reduction of raspberry juices, mixed with stock and not sure what else, but I know it involved a few different types of squash.
All I know is that it was REALLY good!
Have a wonderful Saturday y'all!
back on the golf course!!!

I Have a Little Problem...

I really, really LOVE to gamble.
It's not like a 3 step problem or anything
but it's something "W" and I really like to do together.
I usually win, then, loose it all and he usually is more conservative and wins not much but enough to have fun at it.  So, of course, when I'm out of money I go crawling over to his table with my head held very low and put my hand out.  Begger.
So, the closest place to Atlanta to gamble is Harrah's Cherokee.
Aside from a really bad case of intake of smoke, it's really pretty nice.
I'm a little miffed that the room is 199.00 a night and they only gave us 3 pillows.
Seriously?  Did they think 3 people were sleeping in the bed?
Oh, and they don't provide blowdryers, just FYI.
We DID have truly the best steak I've ever had at Ruth's Chris last night.
Before we hit the casino though we had to get the kiddos some souvenirs
I was telling "W" that it's funny (sorry grown kids) that the first ones we want to buy for our our grandchildren.
Do any of you other grandparents feel that way?
SO, we had to go find some "authentic" Indian garb that the kids would love.
Just though this sign was funny.  Did you catch it?
um.....what do drugs have to do with the rest of this stuff?
Anyway, we were determined to get them EXACTLY what we wanted so we hiked through every tourist attraction Indian shoppe that was in Cherokee.  We finally found the perfect gifts!!!
Cate - a little pair of pink moccasins
Bennett - an authentic drum (sorry J)
Evey - an Indian dress.
I simply cannot wait to give it to them!!!
Okay, on to a teeny tiny better accommodations.
The Old Edwards Inn
in Highland's North Carolina for some (a lot) of golf and maybe squeeze in a spa visit!
Have a beautiful Friday y'all!

Howdy Mates!

Sorry, but I just can't give up my Australian accent just yet.
This is gonna be a mish mesh of stuff just to let you know.
Not much has been goin on down here in lil ole Greensboro, Georgia except for the heat!
It reached a whopping 108 degrees yesterday and you know what?
W and I played golf in it!!!
Yup!
I brought along one of these
"W" aka Macho Man wouldn't let me squirt him with it even in the hottest of times. hum.
(he also huffs when I take a blanket when we play and it's 45 outside)
too bad.
I have to say, even though it was brutally hot outside, there was a breeze and I didn't need my squirt bottle fan thingy nearly as much as I thought I would. Advice:  keep the water in a cooler otherwise you will be squirting hot water on yourself.
Tennis on Tuesday may be different.  I will be bringing it for all of us ladies to enjoy!

So, on to bidness.  I'm showing at Scott Antiques again next Thursday - Sunday and I'll be there this time with my counterpart David Sieffert.
If you were there last month, I was way across the world sleeping under the stars of Australia bout that time!
I keep looking and looking at those pictures and really can't believe I've gone, stayed 3 weeks and am back already.  In that time, my youngest sold her house, we've had multiple showings of ours and we have gotten incredible feedback, and my poor sweet little Bennet broke his arm.
Auntie Boo brought him a rhinoceros with a matching broken arm.  Is that not the sweetest thing you've ever seen?
Next week, "W" and I are going to re-live our 30th wedding anniversary that abruptly ended last year by a few unfortunate circumstances and are going to Highlands for part of the week.
OH! and Wed. night (for the 4th of July) we are going to the Braves game and sitting RIGHT behind home plate. 2 rows up. SO, look for the crazy blonde with a very large beverage probably acting like a fool on TV.  Last time W sat in these seats, Gregory called him at the game and said "Dad, are you sitting in back of home base at the Braves game?  Cause you need to quit picking your nose, it's all over TV".  I'm just kidding, he would NEVER do that!
Okay, I've jabbered and jabbered!
