Happy Birthday Frannie!!!! She's One Today!

Wow, what can I say?

Frannie, my hip turned one this week.
I cannot believe it.

Some of my milestones, and greatest accomplishments?

I started playing back tennis 2 months after.....also I thought I was really cool and decided to serve and volley ending up face first on the tennis court...Hip was good to go, pride, not so much....

I've succesfully gained more than a few lbs. ugh!!!!

4 months after surgery I played in the ALTA AA 3 championships...The winning team came down to MY match, which I promptly lost after being on the court for yes...over three hours.

Let's see....Frannie has just been a rock star

What else?
She has allowed me to drive back and forth to Birmingham probably every other week for the last year.

I am able to paint ALL DAY standing on my feet (if I want to!)

She's allowed me to teach classes which is really a tough feat for someone with a hip issue.
i.e. standing on your feet two nights in a row for 3+ hours each night.

Let me brag...
um....those would be the paintings that my students painted this week....
yep. they were that good.

What else?

I get to play, play, play with my g-babies!

Like go to dance recitals!

and go to all their events!
Like baseball games where you climb and sit on very uncomfortable benches...

and, enjoy the newest member of the Boggs' clan!

I could seriously eat him up.

If you are contemplating total hip replacement, the best advice I can give you?  Don't give it a 2nd thought.
Why go through pain when something can be done.  It really is not a hard surgery, and SO worth it.

I will offer a few pieces of other advice.

1) Interview atleast 3 doctors-find one that "fits" you
2) Have your surgery done in what I call a "well" hospital.  Meaning a hospital designated for replacement issues.  This way you are not around "sick" people (like MRSA)
3) Have a good attitude.  And be ready to be well and pain free again.  Attitude is everything
4) Have someone take your credit cards....I made many Percocet purchases (I'm serious)
5) Have someone keep your animals while you are recovering (very important)

Have a terrific day y'all!!!

A Fun Little Project!

Wait, did I say little?
oops.

Okay, so like I said in my previous post, I have been in Birmingham for well,  now,  about a week and a half helping my youngest and her hubs move in to their first home!
how fun!

Actually, the way I planned it was after the Wesleyan Art Show weekend before last.  I took all of my unsold art back to my studio.  Went home for an overnight breather, woke up the next morning, packed everything, and headed to Birmingham for a month. My goal was to literally stay for a month to help anyone and everyone who needs helping.

So, when I got here Sunday, my hubs, my son, and both SIL's were building a fence in Callen and Houston's yard so that Cooper can't get out.  I just had to grin at the fun of 4 men working together to help out family.
Joy.
(and I think they enjoyed it!)

So, I got to work.

The house was really in great shape so there wasn't much to do as far as getting the house prepared and they were pretty much all moved in for the most part.

So here we have the before:
(as in when they bought the home)

Since Callen and Houston came to the lake for the BIG storage room "clean out" they pretty much got to choose what they wanted.
Even though they already had a lot of great stuff, as first time home owners it can be so overwhelming trying to make everything work.  Especially since you are trying to mesh decades of stuff in to a "designer" look.

Callen has great taste.  And it's funny, I've bucked her on many things this week and she has come out right on most everything. So I promise, I cannot take credit for the cuteness!

We still have a ways to go on a few things but for now, we're pretty much done!
So, here we go!
WAIT!!! Obviously I'm not an "interiors" photographer.  So, these pics need some serious help ;)

So let's start with the foyer...
A wine rack that couldn't fit in the kitchen made it's way to the foyer!

Callen had to have our picture of "Sitting Bull" to add a little humor to  their foyer.
"How"...

(they have all my best paintings)
I also upcycled the dining room painting.  It was previously green houses with red flowers ;)

Next visit I'll be replacing the dining room fixture.  They are also having a new table made.

Everyone needs a fiddle leaf fig.

and a space for reading...

Check out the details of the bookcase!  The previous owners did such a great job with details!

 a collage of family pictures.
This is the slumber suite, meant for girlfriends or dogs.

The guest bedroom.  Not quite finished as they need drapes and the finials to the bed posts...(lost in the move) (doesn't everyone do that?)

Slouchy Master suite = love

The master bath oh my.

Probably my favorite room!  The study

I think Callen and Houston made the perfect choice in this home!

This has truly been one of the most fun projects I think I've ever done!
Thank you Callen!

xoxo

Wesleyan Artist Market! The First Night!

What a wonderful night!!!
And I'm SO happy to say a successful one at that!
um....wish I had painted more angels!

No really, the Thursday night event at Wesleyan is just the best thing ever.

Since my youngest went to school there it is a chance for me to see so many friends that I haven't seen in a really long time.

So, after a tiring setup, I headed back to my home 20 min. away, took a quickie nap, showered, and OMG, let me tell you.  It took me 1 and 1/2 hours to get back.

Atlanta traffic at it's WORST. ugh!

Anyway, I walked around and saw some of the art, which is just terrific.
Really, this is a MUST GO TO event!

Today the market starts at 9 and goes til 5.

And kudos to all the hard working folks who help out with this show.  They do an unbelievable job with the show/hospitality, etc...

Come on by and see us!!!

Have a terrific day y'all!
