Contest! "Miracles"

It's time for my next contest! "Miracles".  I want to hear about all of your miracles.  This could be something as simple as the miracle of waking up in the morning to a beautiful sunrise, to the healing of a sick person, to the birth of a baby to someone who never thought they'd have a child.  Anything  you consider to be a miracle in your life is what I would like for you to write!  The contest will continue until September 11.  Also, please post if you posted in the previous contest!  I love, love, love reading your comments!!! I will announce the winner on September 11.  The winner will of course win this painting. Also, please be sure to bookmark this site so you can check back!

  3. When I finally got pregnant (after 10 years and with a doctor's help) I was ready for everything to be fine. Long story short, I had many, many complications, my son was born 2 months early at a weight of 3# 4.8oz. He was in the NICU for 3 months, on a ventilator twice, came home with 9 medicines and hooked up to machines, etc...was in and out of the hospital for another 4 months or so. He's had speech therapy most of his life, etc.... He will be 10 Sept. 8, and suffers no health problems, only minor learning disabilities. With God's guidance we have been lead to all of the right schools and teachers. As of the end of last year, he has closed the gap and is now right on target for his grade!!!

  4. My little miracle is named Ian. In hebrew his name means "gracious gift of God" and that's exactly what he has been. Prior to becoming pregnant with Ian, I had miscarried a child at 3 months. It was such a shock, but was handled it well as a family. Then I became pregnant again almost immediately. Seven weeks into this pregnancy, I began bleeding and cramping severely and had to go to the ER. The nurses and doctors and myself just assumed that I had miscarried again. When I was finally taken for an ultrasound we discovered that the baby was perfectly fine! I had a large clot in my uterus for about a month that was threatening the baby, but once again...the baby was fine! My miracle was born 5/21/09 and is perfectly healthy. God is so good and so very gracious!

  6. after my grandfathers funeral in July, i started talking about different family events with my grandmother. she told me the story of my mother--being her true miracle. my grandmother was telling me how she had trouble conceiving. since there was no such thing as modern medicine, fertility treatments, etc., she was told by her doctor that she had a one and a million chance of getting pregnant. about 14 months later, my mother was born. i find it amazing that my mom is 1 in a million…b/c to me, she truly is!

  7. My miralce is my now 13 year old son Nick, when Nick was born he was essentially still born. He had an "apgar" score of 1. It took six minutes to bring him back, but with the help of GOD'S hands, the dr.s were able to do so. During the 20 days he spent in NICU he was determined to have heart lung and other illnesses. Most of his caregivers felt he would not live to be 1 year old and here he is. After coming home from the hospital we learned the true extend of his disabilities and he was in a wheelchair till he was 3 years old. Again, most of his caregivers felt he would never walk, talk, run, jump etc and now, although in a special needs sports league, he is able to run, walk, play baseball, swim and many other things with assistance. He truly is my GOD given ,miracle.

  8. Miracles happen everyday, the blessing is to be able to recognise them - no matter how seemingly small or insignificant. So for me the miracle is recognising miracles...does that make sense?

  9. April 3rd, 2008. My father-in-law had a somewhat routine heart surgery. April 14 he went missing. Nowhere to be found. We were in complete shock. A husband, father of 3, sunday school teacher, school board member, missing. Things like this don't happen to us, we thought. On April 19, we had a community wide search. We were shocked that almost 500 people showed up and divided the map into sections to search for him. We didn't find him. It was the worst week of our lives. Days went by and we still hadn't found him. Days turned into weeks and we honestly thought we would never know where he was. Finally, on May 18th, five weeks later, the police called my mother-in-law and told her they thought they had found him. Miracle #1: In the same place we had looked during the search and didn't find him, a hunter(who was hunting out of season) found him. He had been trying to kill a turkey all season and couldn't kill him. He woke up that morning and heard the turkey. He said the turkey led him straight to my father-in-law's car. This brave man(who had heard that my father-in-law was missing) went to the car to make sure it was him. Sadly, he had taken his life. I truly believe that God knew that we could not handle this type of devestation 5 weeks earlier. We needed time to process this horrible tragedy. We buried him on May 21, 2008. The next few months were horrible. We had so many unanswered questions. On July 19th we decided to move back to our hometown in with my mother-in-law to be with her. Miracle #2: Completely unexpectedly, we found out we were pregnant. God knew we needed some light in our lives. This would be the first grandchild. We found out we were having a boy, and this is exactly what my husband needed. a son. When deciding on a name, we knew we wanted him to have MEG initials like my husband and father-in-law. We knew we would use Everette since it was my husband and father-in-law's middle name. We couldn't think of an M name and I asked my husband if he liked the name Myers. He liked it and we looked up the meaning. I could not believe it when I read that it meant "one who brings light". We knew that was his name. Before he was born, he brought so much light to our lives, but we had no idea how much he would change our lives since he arrived. He was born on March 31, 2009, and we brought him home from the hospital on April 3rd, one year to the date of my father-in-law's open heart surgery. So many more miracles have come from our tradgedy. We have seen so many little things happen because of this. We have gotten jobs we never thought we would get so I can stay home part-time, we have seen marriages restored, and lives changed. God has been so good to our family.

  10. My miracle happened a few years ago when my daughter, her husband and my grandchildren moved into a new place. He had been having dreams about a fire for days and couldn't figure out why. In his dream he was lead outside. I get chills to this day just thinking about the angels that were watching over him, my daughter and my grandchildren that day. It became cold and so they decided to put the furnace on but it needed to be lit since the previous tenants just shut everything down. So he went down the hallway to do this while I was on the phone with my daughter at the time. She was sitting in the L.R. with the children on her lap. In a matter of seconds I heard this blood curdling scream and then we were disconnected. I tried to call back but no luck. I was 4 1/2 hours away from where she lived so I couldn't go over. I was a wreck. I finally got a hold of her and she told me the furnace had exploded and Matt screamed out to run out the door and there was fire everywhere. It was a gas leak that had filled the house's vent system. Matt had that dream and in it showed him how to shut the gas off outside and until that day he didn't understand the dream. My daughter ran to the neighbors house and had the fire company come. Matt had his beard burned and there was a scar on his arm in the shape of his best friends first initial that had past away. They were told by the fire department that they were lucky to be alive. I thank God everyday for their second chance at life!!!

  11. I have had more than one miracle and because any miracle is awesome because it is from God it is hard for me to decide which to share with you. Here is a composition of some I hope has a message for you and others:

    October 31, 1975 I survived a car wreck with a broken neck.

June 22, 1978 I survived a motorcycle wreck that lacerated my liver to the size of a dime. This time the Glory of God came to me and He told me "You have to go back, there is something left for you to do down there."

June 22, 1981 I survived another life threatening car accident when a young drinking driver hit us head on going 90+ mph while we were driving 35 mph. That time I prayed, "ok, God this is it. I finally get to be with you." At that moment a paster had pulled me out of the car and layed hands on me to pray. I knew right then I would not be going home yet.

Years passed and the reality of my experiences faded. People were not interested in hearing about them and Satan worked on me by trying to convince me that none of it had meant anything - that I was imagining the whole "God thing".

Then the real miracle happened! I was invited to hear a speaker who had died for 45 minutes and came back to tell of his experience actually walking with the Lord in Heaven. Of course I was fascinated to see if there were any similarities in our storis so I went. He had a beautiful story to tell - much more interesting than mine since he actually got to go into Heaven.

The very last thing he told us was that God's Words to him were "You have to go back, there is something left for you to do down there"! These were the exact same words God had said to me 30 years before!

Now I hope you can imagine how I felt by hearing those words! I truly felt a miracle had happened and that God loves me and has a purpose for me. I believe it is to share my story with others so they may know of His miraculous love and that they put their faith in His Precious Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins.

Thank you for letting me share with you. I pray you are blessed.

  12. Kendall,
I found this site by accident or maybe I was guided to it by the Good Lord above I don't know.
My story may not be as interesting as the others on here, but I will share it with you.
I was 15 when I met and married my first husband, I stayed with him for 7 years, had 2 lovely boys. During those years I was mentally and physically abused. One day I met a man that had a little girl and we became friends. I watched his daughter while he worked for some spending money to buy my boys clothing, etc.. My ex spent his money on well let's say extra curiccular activies. One day my friend had come to pick up his child and one of my boys had almost cut his toe completely off so he took me and the boys to the clinic, they explained my son needed stitches and needed the services of the hospital. My doctor there knew I would get beat for taking him there so he called the ex and explained the situation and the ex explained to the doctor that if I took him there I would need a coroner to be polite. So my friend took us to the pharmacy and bought some butterfly stitches, gauze and ace bandages and fixed my sons foot the best he could(can't tell it had ever been cut now),
But when the ex came home he beat me so severely that it broke 2 of my ribs, the friend could not intervene because someone had a gun pointed right at him. All he could do was watch. My friend showed up the next day, told me it hurt him to see me like that and that he thought he was falling in love with me.
He offered to take me and my boys to Oregon, we were in Florida at the time, I asked when, he said get your stuff I'll put you 3 in a motel for 2 days to get stuff sold etc. to make the trip on the 2nd evening I will return and the 5 of us will be on way. He kept his promise and I eventually fell in love with him to. We married 15 months after leaving the ex and we stayed married for 24 years he passed just before our 25th wedding anniversary just a little over 2 years ago. He passed away suddenly helping someone with some underground sprinklers, on the birthday of the very boy who's toe he had saved. I missed my friend very much when right after his passing I found out that once again I had breast cancer only this time it was in my left breast(I had it the right 11 years prior to that)and in 2 different areas, I consulted a surgeon and told him to take both of them I didn't want to go through it again. It took me 2 years of finding one reason or another to delay the surgery to finally have it done, I had my bilateral mastectomy on July 31, 2009 and Yes, the cancer is all gone, no chemo and no radiation this time around. I Thank the LORD every day for allowing me to be here to watch our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren grow into people that will be just like my husband was, A wonderfully caring, and loving individual.
Thank You for letting me share

  14. My sister in law was in a horrific car accident at the age of 16. She wrapped her car around a tree and was critically injured. The doctors truly believed that short of a miracle there was going to be no saving her. And even if they did they swore she'd be a vegtable for life. Well, her parents called people all over the country. People from every where were praying for this sweet little blonde headed girl. She kept hanging on and little by little God started doing miracles. They were told that her face didn't have enough bone to reconstruct her face. But when they took another x-ray....they had just enough to do it. That bone was not there before. The exact same happened with her knees. But they were able to reconstruct them as well. They said if she did pull through it thoroughly she wouldn't walk, she might not talk, and she's definatly never be able to do one of her favorite things....sing. I am here to tell you today that because of the great mercy of the One True God, she is 26 years old. She is a WALKING TALKING SINGING miracle of God. This woman can sing like none other. She has been given her voice by God and by God alone. She is married and helps her husband as he is the Worship and Youth Pastor at their church. And despite all the injurys she suffered internally (she lost a good chunk of her lge intestine as well as other recontrustion of organ's) she has a beautiful and perfect little girl born last year. It was a hard HARD labor....but they both made it...naturally! At the age of 16 her parents were told that if she lived she'd be a vegtable...but she is now an amazing wife, mother, and woman of God. There is no greater way to see and feel God's power then to stand in front of a living....breathing....miracle of our Lord and Father!

  15. I gave my life to Jesus Christ at age 12. My problems did not disappear, but instead felt like a fire burning all around me. I felt the heat of the flames, yet was not consumed.
I grew up, the child of an alcoholic. I married a man who later became a drug addict. My marriage fell apart, we lost our home, and my family came apart. I did too.
In the midst of all this, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (about 20 years ago). Gradually I grew more and more dependent on others and lost my independence. I couldn't do things like turning over in bed. It was really difficult to walk or feed myself. I dealt with tremors. Having been graceful and athletic, I mourned the loss of these things, as now I couldn't do the simplest thing without great effort and clumsiness. I was even unable to sit up and hold onto the phone for more than just a minute,or sit at the computer and type. I had become an artist, but eventually could no longer do my art.
Soon after I was diagnosed, God told me during a devotion one morning, that "This sickness is not unto death, but is for the glory of God." I held onto that promise, though as time went on, the likelihood grew dim that it would ever come true here on this earth. I continued to praise God even during my darkest hours, sometimes literally singing and praising through clenched teeth, defying hopelessness to reign in my heart though it felt as if it had been broken into a in a million pieces. I felt totally useless, praying that God would bring me home and let me die. He "spoke" to me in my spirit, telling me this: Daughter, I am right here with you. I never ask my children to go anywhere that I don't go with them. I am agonizing with you. I know your pain. But can you trust me? I'm telling you that you have purpose, and though you cannot make sense of your life now, know this: I am accomplishing my purposes through you. I have called you to suffer for a little while. You were born for this - to glorify My name."
Today I am restored. There is no cure for Parkinson's Disease, but today I walk, I feed myself, I have no tremors........God has restored me and taken this tragedy and turned it into triumph! My joy overflows and I will thank Him and declare His praises forever! He didn't just restore strength and peace to my body.... He did even more than that. He provided the strength to get me through it all. He says, "My strength is made perfect in your weakness." I have lived the truth of His Word when He promised: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak".
I am a walking miracle. If you wish to see my artwork, and listen to a brief telling of my story, please visit my website at: www.annamblack.com
When you enter the site, click on "stories" and then "Anna's Presentation" and hear me narrating .
God is not finished with me yet, and, Reader - He is not finished with you yet. Here you are living and breathing in this new day. Never doubt that there is a God, and that He is good, and He has designed you and your life just the way it is FOR A REASON. You may not understand it, but you can believe it.

  16. I Think the biggest Miracle is that all these people are here and able to share with all of us there stories of miracles of life. With so many sad things going on lately in our world people find a way to cope and share and help take care of each other.

  17. My miracle happened in 2002 when I met my husband. I was having severe pains and my husband (then boyfriend) told me that something didn't seem right with all that pain I was having. It was a daily thing for me and I didn't think twice about why the pain was there. I went to the doctor upon his request and concern and found out that I had cervical cancer and that I had less than a year had they not performed a complete hysterectomy right away. I am cancer free to this day. Thanks to my husband and to God.

  18. My miracle is my son. Garris was born a healthy baby boy in February. Well in the begining of March my mom,Garris and I were headed to the pediatrician for a routine check up...for some strange reason I sat in the backseat with my baby boy..as we road through town I placed my hand on my son's chest. Riding along something did not seem normal and I felt strange all over..I looked down at Garris and he was blue! His chest was not moving..he had no signs of life..I screamed for my mother to rush to the hospital..I got hom out of his carseat as fast as I could and began CPR . I prayed ,"God you gave him to me and he is yours ,so if You want him take him but if not please give him back to me..In the name of Jesus ,Amen. Nothing I kept doing CPR and praying and crying ...we finally reached the hospital ..My mom sped the entire way there..as soon as I got out of the car i ran into the hospital and the nurse asked me what was wrong I told her my baby had died.. I showed him to her and she sent us to a room where doctors and nurses came rushing in...as I began to tell them what had happened the doctor felt for a pulse on Garris. I reached my arm in and asked God one more time,"Please?" as I pulled my arm out the nurse moved over and Garris all of the sudden gasped and took in a breath of air! I nearly passed out.The doctors and nurses looked at my son and said what ever I did worked.Later we found out that Garris had a stroke and then Sids. They said he would never walk, talk, or act like a normal boy...but Praise God today, I have a five year old boy who can out talk me loves to play and wants to be a preacher when he grows up! How is that for a modern day Lazarus? Oh and the doctors did say he had been clinically dead for at least 5 minutes.

  19. when I was 21 i had an 8 month old daughter and went to take her to my grandmas to watch so I could take a friend to the doctor.I drove 1 mile before I was hit head on. I was wrapped up in a bobwired fence and had the door closed over my feet. After a couple of hours they cut me from the fence and took me to the first hospital. I was then stat flighted to another hospital , where i died 3 times that night.I had all limbs broken a closed head injury and my hips were crushed.A couple of weeks later I was being sent home to die. My mom got me into a local hospital to care for me. I threw up 4 pints of blood and was rushed to another hospital and died 2 more times that day. I had caused a bleeding ulcer because I would forget each night that my daughter was still alive. I kept forgetting. While in the new hospital I told everyone of what I saw when I went to heaven. And of the messages I had to give to a relative of mine. I told my cousin what his dad had said to tell him. A couple of years later that same cousin had died at 25 of heart disease. It was a shock because they had previously checked his heart and was given the ok. I married 4 years later and had 2 more daughters. They had told my family I only had a 5 percent chance of living and wouldnt ever walk again and couldnt ever have anymore children and if I did live I wouldnt ever be right in the mind. I am here almost 20 years later, Im a girl scout co-leader, am active with the cheerleaders and an active member of my church. God does make miracles happen. They had 3 states praying for me at that time. I wanted to stay where I was in heaven but was told it wasnt my time yet, I had a purpose to fill. I have told of my experience and have helped lead some to Jesus for telling the story. I am very grateful to my lord. Without him I would be nothing, but with him anything can be accomplished!!

  21. My young husband died on Christmas Day 2004 and I was devastated. Daniel and I had only been married for two months. We were so much in love. He had only turned 20 years old two days before his death. It was a tragic car accident, the official cause of death was drowning because they found him face down in the ditch he wrecked in. I dived quickly into drugs and alcohol. I couldn't handle losing him that quickly. Who thinks they will have to pick out headstones only two months after marriage. After 5 years of drugs, suicide attempts and being in and out of mental hospitals I came back to Jesus, who was my first love. On December 3rd, 2008 I was praying to the Lord to find me a new husband before the end of the year. I was so lonely. I met Keith three days later on December 6th. We were married on April 5th, 2009. That afternoon after our ceremony he told me about how he was praying for me too. He said on December 3rd, 2008 he was praying to the Lord to find him a new wife before the end of the year. I burst into to tears and thanked Jesus right then and there because he had answered our prayers.

  22. First of all let me say THANK YOU for your beautiful work, you are truly gifted.
This is a really neat way for us to express the greatness of life despite hard circumstances, here is my story…I am a single mother of 3 young adult children who have done exceptionally well through hard times. Life was good, I was a registered nurse that worked in critical care, needless to say I’ve seen a lot of tragedies and a lot of miracles in medicine, but life went on. Then in 2002 my life came to a screeching halt, my Multiple Sclerosis exacerbated and I ended up in hospital for 3 months. I had lost a lot of bodily function and became confined to a wheelchair. It was at this point that I experienced my first miracle, despite everything this disease had taken from me I had this overwhelming sense of peace, I couldn’t explain it other than I knew I was in the arms of GOD. Today I still struggle physically with what this disease has stolen, severe spasms, loss of use of my legs, and minimal use of my right arm, my career as a critical care nurse. However, the biggest miracle I’ve received is that, it’s the simple things in life that count…a smile, kind gestures, optimism, patience, and most of all my total surrender of self to trust in the LORD. Miracles are all around us; we just need to be still to notice. Thanks Diane
