A Really Great Gift Idea....

A few years back "W" surprised me one day with a fine bottle of olive oil.
Ya know, I had really never thought much about olive oil, and the differences.
I had just cooked with my regular ole Publix bought extra virgin olive oil.
Ya know, the cheap kind.
He had a secretary that was born in Italy.
Her dad was/is a tailor here in Atlanta and he produces his own olive oil over in Italy.
I think it's a family thing.
Well.
omg.
I used it, and I'm serious y'all, I have never tasted such a difference in my cooking!
I was SOLD on fine olive oil.
So now "W" gives me special olive oils for all occasions!  I can't wait to see what's next up his sleeve.

I've decided, what a great gift to give someone?
It's hard to know if someone drinks or not and sometimes that bottle a wine is just so uncreative.
But what if you gave them a nice bottle of olive oil instead?
They make them in all types of bottles and make for such a beautiful gift.
This year "W" adopted an olive tree for me!
"Nudo" does this, names the tree, and sends you 3 tins of olive oil.
While not as good as the Italian tailors oil, it's still great, and makes for a fun gift!
I searched the internet and found some beautiful gift ideas.

if you've ever cooked with White Truffles, you know how wonderful this must be.  I'm putting this on my wish list.  At around 90.00, it's one of the most expensive olive oils around.

another "wish list" item

I think this one is perfect for the man chef in your life.

 beautiful...for a mere 329 US dollars

I'm Done!!!!

Good Gosh Almighty.
I am SO glad I am done with that detox.
How do I feel?
Well, I've decided that part of my problem with this detox is that I had a head cold when I started it.
Which has now turned in to a horrible sore throat.
Accompanied by a lingering "caffine" headache.
So, I really can't give you good news on how I feel.
and, Let me tell you.  That lunch smoothie could not go away soon enough.  (enter barf sound)

I will say this though.  I'm going to eat an entire house today.
with a bag of potato chips.
and
anything else cruchy I can fit in my mouth.

Dreaming...

In all fairness to Dr. Oz's 3 Day Detox, I have lost a little weight.  maybe 5 lbs.  And actually I am a lot less puffy and swollen.  My profile looks thinner.
I'm going to impliment a new diet going forward (after I pig out today)
and "W" is challenging me to stay off the caffine.
ugh.
I guess I have to!!!
have a great day y'all!!!

Dr. Oz 3 Day Detox....my goodness....

Well....
I made it through day 2....barely
Y'all, this is ALOT tougher than I thought it would be.
Not only can I not get up off the couch, I could barely take my dog out for a walk.
Wondering if this is mental?
I do know this.
If you do this, you better have a daggum good "mind over matter" attitude.
also.
This morning before I made my morning smoothie, I had an "episode"
I felt faint.  Cold sweats followed by hot flashes followed by cold sweats.
My hands and feet started tingling really, really bad.
Felt nauseous, was seeing stars.
I laid down on the couch, tried to relax, and covered up with a blanket.
It passed about 10 minutes later and I was able to make my smoothie.
At this point, I'm just not sure about this detox, but going to see how my morning goes.
I'm so far into it now that if I don't follow through I will feel 2 days of this will have been done in vain.
It did scare me though.
I have tried to paint for 2 days and just can't get up the energy.
It's crazy!  All the reviews I have read have said that you have more energy!
not me.
I am drinking tons of water and wondering if I'm actually drinking too much.
I do think this is an electrolyte issue.
I don't know.
this is a little how I feel...

I'll let you know tomorrow how today goes!
have a great day!

Day 2 Dr. Oz 3 day Detox...hum

That's really all I can think to say.
hum.
I made it through yesterday without a hitch.
But, this little smoothie right here is a nightmare.
Now.  I am a lover of all things green.  But something about this one just makes my stomach turn.
I'm already dreading it tomorrow.
How do I feel?
Well, I'm really, really tired.  Very thirsty (I have had tons of water) and craving something solid real bad.  What's funny is I love all of these ingredients, I just don't love them all mixed together.
Wonder if it would do the same if I just ate them seperately?
oh well.
I have realized this!
I really, really love crunchy almond butter.
I will definitely keep eating that!

Wish me luck y'all!!!

Dr. Oz's 3 Day Detox...Day 1

So.
Today starts the detox.

The first time I've ever done this.  Or anything like this.
The reviews have been great on this detox, and I'm a big fan of Dr. Oz.
I'm a groupie.
I went to Whole Foods yesterday to get all of the necessary ingredients.

It's not cheap.  I dropped a good 200.00 there.
(alot of that cost was the vitamins)
I did, also, learn a few interesting tidbits!
First, Coconut oil is good for a lot of things!
You can use it as skin cream, and you can also cook with it instead of olive oil.  Doesn't smoke as bad and is supposed to be betta fo you.
I love Whole Foods.  They are so informed.
so,
this morning I had my cup of green tea....hum....wasn't coffee, but I sucked it down as fast as I could.  I did love the stevia.  My friend Connie uses it and swears by it, so I'm thinking I may give up the "pink packets" for stevia.  Supposed to be much better for you.

the Vitamix is just a "super"blender.
put it in a pretty glass and it taste a lot better.
The verdict on the breakfast smoothie?
Good, in an "earthy" kind of way.
I can do ANYTHING for 3 days.
and I've got a few friends joining me!!!

Have a great day y'all!
