"THE BEST" Pimiento Cheese Recipe EVER!

Kendall Boggs Pimento Pomonto Piminto Pimiento Cheese

First you need to learn to spell pimiento

ðŸĪŠ

But really y'all, this is the best.
ever.

So...my youngest's husband turns 35 tomorrow!

Along with a few other birthdays that they are celebrating, they are having a HUGE backyard hoe down with a bunch of fun adult events.
They rented this
😂😂😂
That's him.
And that's a huge water slide.
How fun!!!
So..lets get to the best pimiento cheese EVER!

Start with these ingredients:
I have two versions of this recipe

Kendall Boggs' Garlicky Pimiento Cheese

2 bags of finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
and one extra bag for (I'll show you in a sec)
1 large jar of chopped pimientos
fresh peeled garlic
Dukes mayonnaise (only Dukes)
nothing else (I promise) will make it taste this good
#dukesmayo
cayenne pepper

Pour two bags into a bowl that someone left at your house about 30 years ago.
Sorry, you're not getting it back!

Only finely shredded cheese works for this recipe!

dump in the drained pimientos

stir that all up
add about this much mayo

I added a little too much mayo so I added a little more cheese (hence the 3 pkg. of cheese)

Add two cloves of pressed garlic

Stir it up and add....
cayenne pepper!
to taste.

about this much
and you're done!

Now to my second recipe
Kendall Boggs' Spicy Bacon Pimiento Cheese

Do the same as above, except use a large jar of shredded pimientos
and chopped chili peppers
and this

(I should have used real bacon)

Mix it all up and....
TADA!!!
Dump in two separate containers
I wish I had made more
Learn how to spell

and send it to a special guy for his birthday!

***I would be remiss if I didn't tell you how to ship something cold

First, go to Publix and get dry ice and a Styrofoam container
(the person behind the desk has to get this for you)

If you want it to stay cold, put the dry ice on the bottom of the food
If you want it to stay frozen, put the dry ice on the top of the food

But....before you go out of your house you must print off a Fed Ex Dry Ice sticker to put on the outside of your box.
With the amt. of dry ice.
GEEZ...by this time, you are getting a little irritated
Find out before you drive all over town WHICH Fed Ex will ship out dry ice
(only a few have the scanning device for this)

Put in a box and overnight the food with the dry ice sticker on the outside

***
Please note if you publish or are using this recipe professional or personally, I would love the credit!
😉
Have a terrific day y'all!
And Happy Birthday "Haha"! Just think you're halfway to 70!
😂

The Bucket List

The Bucket List (edited)

Do you have one?
I didn't until this year.  Actually I had one thing on my bucket list years ago!
I was going to jump out of a plane.

"W" always likes to say who would jump out of a perfectly good airplane"
He's got a point.
ðŸĪ”

But, life has a way of changing your mind about things right?
Anyone remember my total hip replacement 5 years ago?
That changed my mind about skydiving.

"Frannie" is doing spectacular still!!!
A few aches and pains but for the most part, she's still holding up the heavier part of my body.
So I would like for her to keep on truckin baby.

So, for this year I've started a real life Bucket List

So here are a few things on my list!

1) Ride in a hot air balloon.  I've always wanted to do this but just haven't taken the time!

2) Become a Sommelier.  I love, love, love all things wine (a little too much actually) but I just love going to Napa and vineyards. One of my very favorite things to do. So I would really love to learn all about wine and take the courses to become a Sommelier!
my favorite wine and vineyard.

3) Go to Provence, France.
My family has heard about this one so much that they are truly sick and tired of me talking about it....
but you don't know this now do you?😉
please family, don't think this is another message hint
ðŸĪĢ
I can feel your eyes rolling right now...
🙄🙄🙄🙄
Y'all. I don't sleep real well normally. So. About 6 months ago I got this app on my phone called "Calm". It is terrific. And so terrific that I have listened to a story called Blue/Gold about 100 or so times.  The narrator walks you through the lavender fields of Provence. It is SOOOOOOO dreamy! And since my bucket list includes seeing the Van Gogh Alive show (speaking of hints messages) I am pumped about all of this being on my bucket list.
Van Gogh is my all time favorite painter.  Not sure why I can relate to him, but I do. Maybe being misunderstood? You know, that third child syndrome thing.
Just know this.
"I will never cut off my ear"
EVER.

4) Write a book.
Doesn't everyone have this on their bucket list?
I keep telling my husband that he needs to write a business book because he is so smart and logical.
But, not sure he's up for it.
I do have a story or two I'd like to tell though!
My daughter found this yesterday.  I typed it on my uncle's typewriter when I was about 11 or 12
"The Godfather and Godmother"
"I am a business ladie and I do all kinds of work."
That's hilarious.
😂😂😂
by the way...
I'm SOOOO proud of this sweet girl (whom I've never met but know like a good friend!)
Kristy Woodson Harvey
Isn't she beautiful?
She's done an entire series of these AMAZING books!
Great easy beach reading.

Come to think of it, meeting Kristy in real life would be
5) on my bucket list!

6) Go back to school and get an art history degree.

So I'll know more about my favorite artist
Van Gogh

Do you cry when you hear this song like I do?
Don McClean
♥️
7) Take an art class in Italy!

8) Learn to play the violin
(my favorite instrument)!

9) Take a public speaking course

So.  This is probably a weird one, but I call myself
"the funeral speaker"
I'm not sure why, but I think I've done 4 or so eulogies so far.
I love doing them and honoring my friends and family that I love so dearly.  So, I would love to do a better job at that!

That's my beautiful mom.  I had the honor of speaking at her funeral years ago.

10) GO ON A MISSION TRIP! Y'all....I cannot even believe I have never gone on one.  I'm almost embarrassed to tell you that I've never done this! I would love to help children and people who are less fortunate than me learn how to do things.  I know I could give back! I would love to teach art, sewing, cooking, tennis and all the things I love to do! I am seriously ashamed of myself and I WILL go on one one of these days. Period.

Have a terrific day y'all!

Drumsticks on the Barbie!

We have some super picky eater grandkids.
As a lover of all things edible ðŸĪŠ (except for oysters....I won't do oysters. ever.), their parents know it makes me a bit cray.
(sorry parents)
Actually H is not a real picky eater.
Hang with me on the recipe because I need to share some other things first. wink.
So...about 3 weeks ago we went to visit "W"s parents in North Carolina.
Brevard to be exact.
BTW....GREAT place to go for the day!
Here are a few pics.

Inspiration for my next painting....
Who's loving green for their interiors right now???
🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

We got lucky and saw a bunch of white squirrels!!!

Brevard has some fun shops to peruse.

OH....I went SO crazy over this hand turned salad bowl.
I wanted to give it as a wedding gift but it was out of my
"wedding gift" budget.
But...here is the artist.

Truth.

My 5th grandchild loved the twister game we bought for the kids to go crazy on!
He also loved playing with Baby Boggs' feet.
Meme and Daddy Bob loved meeting their newest great grandchild!

Now, before I get to the whole purpose of this blog-let me show you a few other things.
I finally put some of MY art in my house....
See that corner by the plant? That has needed art since we moved in a year ago.
I love how these turned out!

Aren't my backyard hydrangea's beautiful in these vases from Anthropologie?

Now on to the chicken
Getting back to my picky g-kid eaters.
They ABSOLUTELY LOVED THESE when we first made them while in Brevard.  "W" came up with this simple recipe.
My youngest was here this week and she LOVED them as well!
So, after a long day of working and bless her heart she had not eaten all day, I surprised her!
Get a package of drumsticks.  Y'all, they're cheap.
I mean this was 5.60 worth of chicken.
Put them in your re-usable😉plastic containers.
Rub with olive oil, sprinkle all sides with garlic, pepper, and (the key) Montreal steak seasoning. I did half with the regular seasoning and half with the spicy seasoning.

Let that all marinate for about an hour

I grilled these chicken legs on my new electric George Foreman grill because I don't know how to use our Big Green Egg.
"W" was on the golf course.

The rest of the recipes:
Junk Yard Salad
This blog was a long time ago and none of the art is available
(just in case you are interested)😉

Those peaches....OMG, OMG, OMG.
I am seriously not sure I have ever had anything that good.
They are Chilton County (Alabama) peaches
I split them in half, took the pit out, and sprinkled Swerve confectioner's sugar.
That's the sugar that Keto diet recommends.
Then grilled them for about 10 minutes. Really it was more like searing them.

Then the Brussels sprouts:
I boiled them for about 30 minutes.
Drained
Spread them on a baking sheet.
I added sprinkled with white truffle oil, garlic powder and pepper.
Baked at 425 for 30 minutes.
Enjoy!

I want to give a shoutout to the place our kids stayed near Brevard. Y'all. SUCH a great place! And if you're in to fly fishing it is known world wide! Just know.....it is literally in the middle of nowhere.  Like really nowhere USA.

Have a great day y'all!

Going Green!

Well....I'm trying to at least.
A couple of months ago I saw a disturbing picture on Facebook.
(sorry, I know this is hard to view)

This and visiting the beaches where our beach house is and seeing the debris that people just leave after a day at the beach seriously repulses me.
So...
After almost 60 years of my life ahem, my 60th is August 8th...if anyone is interestedðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠSeriously dreading but will make the best of it, I am really trying to make a change in my life.

So, let's get back to this "going green" thing.
After seeing the Sea Turtle pic around the same time as I was at my semi-annual trip to show my art at the Roundtop Antique show 3 months ago, I was determined.  Why did an art show make me wanna change my ways?
Single use plastic to be exact.
The shrink wrap we all use to wrap everything from paintings, to furniture, to rugs and everything else in between is mind blowing.  And what happens to it? It gets thrown right in the trash.
So, my friend Lisa Moore (my artist friend who goes with me came up with a solution for at least us)
It's much more expensive but we can reuse (for the win)
It's called cohesive corrugated wrap
I will still use bubble wrap bags since I can re-use them, but the shrink wrap is going to go.

Next, what about all those plastic baggies we use?
Here is a great solution.
Mesh bags from Amazon.
Perfect to use instead of the plastic bags in the produce section.
Just remember to take them with you to the grocery.

I've bought a separate trash can strictly for recycling.

 YES!

And let me add if you need a green painting....ahem

"Irish Blessings" in the background of this pic is still available!
36 x 48 framed
2,200.00

The next thing to go is water bottles.
NO. MORE. PLASTIC. WATER. BOTTLES.
Seriously y'all, what a waste of money.

I found these terrific glass bottles on amazon.
They are beautiful when you diffuse with mint, strawberries, blueberries, or whatever your heart desires!

Another goodie!
My youngest daughter gave me these:
Actually these are not the actual ones because I couldn't find the ones that EmerginC sells.
But...let me tell you how I love a stainless steel straw.
The drink gets colder when it goes up the straw.
🙌🙌🙌
Here are some off Amazon

I also found these at Target for the moms who make school lunches for their kids.

Seriously, how cute are these? They come in two colors, and you can write your little love notes on them, like my oldest does!

Finally,
TAKE YOUR REUSABLE BAGS TO THE GROCERY STORE.
Ya'll, it's not that difficult and I will tell you, you can put more stuff in them which means it saves you time unloading your car.
They are also stronger than plastic so they don't bust!
I really, really, REALLY cannot believe how many people I see walking out of the grocery with plastic bags.

Just slow down a bit, take your time, and do the right thing.
Trust me.
If I can change my ways, anyone can!
I want our earth to be better for our kids and grandkids.

Have a terrific day y'all!
xoxo
