"Painting Freedom" and Social Media!

Hey y'all!

Are any of you out there still sane?
Like those of you in Nashville and Birmingham and Memphis and Dallas and South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, New York.....
and for that matter every where else in the whole freakin United States?
Well, except for maybe my friends out in Cali.

This weather needs to go. ITNEEDSTOGO.
period.

Bring it on Spring!

I've been in Birmingham all week helping my oldest daughter while her hubs is out of town.

Wednesday they cancelled school.
For rain.
yup.
rain.

It was too wet to go outside, to cold to play ball, so we sat here ALL day, we did nothing at all.
Yes, that was my attempt at being Dr. Seuss.

"W" offered up his best advice....
"Divide and conquer"

um....that was tried at like 7 a.m.?

okay.
anyway, on Monday I decided to form my new business Facebook page.  Not really sure why it took me so long.
I know it's important because what's her face always ask the people who come on Shark Tank (my favorite show EVER) how many FB followers they have.
Duh.  Can you say FREE advertising?

Anyway, I did the usual and asked my friends to "like" my page.
Then on Tuesday I decided to have a little contest and give away this:

"Heartbeat"
my newest painting in my "Painting Freedom" series.
All they had to do is "like" my page and share it.

WOW, social media at it's best.

As of right now, that post has reached 28,928 people.
And, I have gotten 287 comments and 387 likes.
Holy Toledo!

Hurry and go to my FB page for a chance to win!
But you really, really need to hurry, cause it ends at 8 a.m. this morning!!!

Have a terrific day y'all!

Are You "In"digo?

Trying really hard to be funny...

Anyway!
So, I'm totally in to Japanese Indigo at the moment.

I honestly never, ever thought I'd ever love a deep blue colour like this again.
But I just can't help myself.

It.is.beautiful.period.

To me, this colour is warm and cozy.  A slouchy look that can be dressed up to look sophisticated, or dressed down to look sloppy (but in a cool way, you know?)

Add a sleek velvet sofa to give it a sophisticated look.

and.
a few gold leafed oyster shells....
(I saw these yesterday on One King's Lane and can't get them out of my mind)
That would be my "craft-a-holic" mind....and yes, I immediately went on Ebay to find them so that I can gold leaf them....I gold leaf everything.

and you've got a great look!

Have a terrifically warm day y'all!

My NEW Website is LIVE!!!!

I received the best Valentine's Day gift I could have ever received this Saturday.

My husband, the most computer challenged person I know physically put together ALL by himself my new art website.

WOW.

What a labour of love.

Having a web site for an artist is a MUST.

It adds so much creditability to your work.

It is also very expensive, but can be done by yourself inexpensively with just some time and desire.

One of which I didn't have, the other of which I just couldn't for the last couple of years come up with.
(make that didn't want to come up with?)

So, what have I done?
I've grumped and complained for the last couple of years that my old website was out of date, out of touch, too hard to figure out.

Blah, blah, blah....(btw, my hubs listened!)

As a "self-proclaimed hater of complainers", I hated myself for being that way.

So, honestly never in a million years did I think my husband would (or could) physically put together a new website for me.

Surprise!!! "W" surprised me with one of the best gifts I've ever been given!

Now.
Go buy some art! wink.

Have a terrific day y'all!

A Little Paddington Bear...

I loved the movie.
Thought it was just simply adorable.
So much so, that I had to buy my soon to be new little grandson a Paddington Bear.

So...
I searched.
I searched and searched and finally took it to Ebay.

I found the perfect little bear!

It arrived yesterday just in time for Valentine's Day!
and,
honestly, I've never been so blown away by the talent that went in to making this precious bear.

Now.  I am a lover of creative people.
I'm also a lover of talented people.
So, when I recieved this precious hand made bear, I had to find out more about his maker.

Her name is
Betsy Pribyl
She grew up in southern Minnesota where she married her high school sweetheart after dropping out of college.  She thought she would always go back but found a more adventurous life was all she could handle!  Having been married for 46 years, she and her husband have 7 beautiful children.  They have lived in 7 states.  Betsy started out by making her children their Halloween costumes.  Then she supplied a few gift shops and did some craft shows.  Whatever is trending at the moment is what she makes!  She has sold over 200 Harry Potter Sock Monkeys over the past few years.  Each one is her form of art!
She has been sewing and crafting and making dolls for over 30 years.  Sock monkeys have been her "main" thing, until the movie Paddington came out.

Now she is a one person Paddington Bear maker!
She says her greatest gratification is taking a simple piece of fabric and creating a doll or and animal that will melt your heart!

50 Shades of Yuck....

I haven't read the book, nor do I care to read.

I'm also not going to get sucked in to going to the movie.

I'm already sick of all the hype about this movie.

I don't even care to have an open mind about any part of "50 Shades".

Quite frankly, I think the whole message is a BAD message for women.

I know enough about the concept of the message that the movie money mongers want you to believe. I don't want anything to do with it.

This was the very best article that I could find pertaining to "50 Shades".

Please read!!!

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day y'all! and please DON'T get sucked in to this Hollywood novel.
