Serenity

I had the honor of painting with my youngest daughter Callen yesterday!

I LOVE painting with her!

She will be helping me prepare for the countdown for Roundtop.

Which happens in exactly 17 days...yikes!

Any way, I simply cannot wait to see what she puts on canvas because I think she has the makings of a terrific "budding" artist!

While we were working, I finished up this painting.

I let her name it.

She named it "Serenity"

I thought is was a perfect name because that is exactly the feeling I get when I look at this painting.

New Watercolour Feathers!!! Especially for Roundtop!

SO excited to present these new feathers!

Each of these are 14 x 18 and will be framed in 18 x 24 standoff acrylic frames.

These were a huge hit at Roundtop last season.

I will have 20 of these!

I will also be doing 11 x 14 signed and numbered prints!

(and trust me...my print maker is so good that you cannot tell the print from the original!)

Just to give you an idea of the framing, here is a pic!

I will be showing about 40 - 50 originals.  Those sell for 175.00 each

The prints sell for 68.00 each.

I will be framing 20 acrylic stand off frames of both feathers and abstracts.

Those will be priced at 525.00

9-11

Yesterday I let myself go free.

With my art that is.

I decided to just paint and see where it was going to take me.

Here is where my mind and hands took me...

So.  As I always do, I sit in a chair and stare at my paintings usually for about 30 minutes after I think I'm finished.

Then I fix them if they need "fixin".  When I sat and stared at this painting all I could think about was 9-11.  

Do you see the smoke rising from the ashes?

Do you see the rebar standing silently?

What about the flag on the left side flying at half-staff?

In my brain 9-11 was on my mind and it came out on canvas.

I decided it was finished.

I hope this painting finds a special place and owner because I think it is totally thought provoking.

It is both interesting and sad at the same time.

What an emotional painting.

We are coming up on the 15th anniversary of 9-11.

I cannot believe it has been 15 years.

Watercolor Abstracts!!

So, to continue my "art mistake" I decided I kinda like doing watercolor abstracts...

As a matter of fact, I'm obsessed!

I cannot wait to see these all framed up!

For Roundtop I am going to frame 4 of these in acrylic standoff frames and 4 pressed between two pieces of glass in a simple gold frame.

I think they are going to be beautiful!

When something "comes" to you as an artist, many times you wonder where that inspiration came from.  I think in this case, with this new series, I must have tucked away memories from Big Sky into the back of my brain.  I know the images of the thermal ponds have been dying to come out somehow.

...now, if I could just nail that turquoise color....

Playing Around!

Sometimes art comes to you as a mistake!

While painting this weekend, I looked at my watercolor palette.

It looked like art in it's purest form.

A mistake.

I decided I would try to recreate it on paper.

While it didn't turn out exactly like I wanted, it did inspire me to create a series of watercolor abstracts!
