I Did a Crazy Thing

I know, I know,,,,,,you're goin, "what now"?
Well, first, I voted....I did my civic duty and I hope you did too!
Then I came home and W was in his study working and I said
"I think I'm going to Birmingham" "and turning around and coming back"
He looked at me like I was crazy.  But wonderful him was supportive of a crazy decision.
Anyway, I really didn't have anything pressing to do yesterday and it was really, really buggin me that I wasn't going to be there for mom's move.....especially since it was by ambulance.....
why did that make it so much worse?  It just made it seem more serious than it was.
OMG,,,,you prayer warriors out there you.  You guys are really talkin to the man upstairs.
She is SO HAPPY let me just tell you!  We are in a great place!
Doesn't she look great?
Now for some specific prayers...
1)  That mom will continue to do well with her therapy so they will keep her at Shelby Ridge
2)  That she will continue to eat and put a few lbs on her bones
3)  That Dr. Talbert will be able to re-insert a new hip on November 18 and that there will be absolutely no signs of MRSA
4)  That she will be home for Thanksgiving
Thank you so much for your friendships out there.
and....a specific thanks to my wonderful sista.
you're the bestest sis!
Even though she looks younger (even at an early age)
okay,,,,two things.
1) I secretly wanted Kim's dress
2)  I've always had "heavy" eyelids, so if any of you are plastic surgeons out there thinking I need my eyes done, don't bother....I needed them fixed at age 2.  Botox?  well, that's another blog.
Kim's actually a year older! (don't cha just love the baby's breath and the gloves)
hey,,,,stop it, I thought it was cute at the time!
and yes,,,,I do have a father, a wonderful, kind, absolutely gorgeous father.  Unfortunately he hasn't gotten a lot of my time or attention lately.
You guys mean the world to me!!!
Blessings for a fabulous day y'all

oh....!  I'll be blogging again today.
I'm getting ready for the GAC (Greater Atlanta Christian) art show which starts tomorrow and I want to document the work I'll be showing.
Stay tuned!!!

Moving Mom and Wes Gordon

Oh the pain.  I realize it's not "about me" here, but I'm up at 4:30 and just can't sleep no mo.
Mom is getting moved to a Nursing Home today.....by ambulance.
Oh, the guilt I feel for not being there.  Ya know, I was talking to one of my besties Elizabeth and she went through something similar with her father.  She said "when you're there you just sort of twiddle your thumbs and think of all the stuff you need to be doing back home.  When you're not there, you think of all the reasons you need to be back there."  That's exactly how I feel!  Thank you Elizabeth for your wisdom and your friendship.
The fact is, I live 3 1/2 hours away and can't possibly be there all the time.
Anyway, thanks for listening.  I need a good ear this morning at 4:30.
You know that writing is the best therapy.  Did you know that?
yep.  A therapist friend of mine said it's the most "healing" thing you can do for your soul.
I believe it because I already feel better!
Enough to show you what I did yesterday!
Remember Wes Gordon????
Well, he has just really hit it big.
He is the hottest thing to hit NYC since,,,,well, I don't even have anything to compare him with.
Let's just say he's HOT....in more than one way.
young, beautiful, talented,,,,,Harrods just picked up his line, Saks has it,,,,and since his show yesterday?
Neimans picked it up,,,,all of the stores.  And ya know what?  He's only 24!
WOW.
I went to his show and a luncheon for him yesterday at Neimans with his mom.
She's the one on the left.  See where he gets his looks? (you should see his dad...)
Now, I was SO impressed with his line.  And I'll show you a little of what I got to see.  Enjoy!
is this not the cutest thing eva????
taking many orders!  Go Wes!
Ladies got to "meet and greet" Wes Gordon

This is such a beautiful tunic from his spring line
Wes helping a customer.  Oh, this coat is to die for!
Diane again! Both wearing Wes Gordon
Not sure what I want more....the outfit, or the model's body.
Here's that coat again....
 and again
He has a beautiful soft palette for spring.
I went a little nuts over this jumpsuit.  VERY cute.  It also comes in grey with pink details
 and his gowns are divine

 Cute little "tennis" dress huh?
Wes even had time to get a little crazy with me!!!
Congrats Wes!  I'm so proud of you!!!!

Wadda Ya Do? Leg Wraps

Whadda Ya do when you want two pairs of boots....a short pair, and a long pair....
BUT...
you only have
for one pair....
and...
your husband gave you these last year for Christmas (so you have no excuse for a new pair, even though you want a heel)
PLUS,,,you have like really muscular fat tennis calves and a lot of those boots won't fit over your
muscular fat tennis calves,
not to mention being tucked into a pair of skinny jeans (which I shouldn't wear anyway because of my fat butt)  but you know what???? I'm 51 and I can wear whatever I want! I know, I'm rambling..
Anyway,,,I don't have an excuse to buy a long pair.
But I want some chocolate ones,,,,I need them,,,,I NEED BOTH! Long and short.
Enter.,,,,
how does that saying go?
Neccessity is the mother of all invention?
If that's the case,,,I'm neccessitized and I'm a motha.
So,
here we go...
Leg Wraps...(don't laugh,,,I know, I can hear you over my computer)
I'm gonna try to make these
(the ones I bought)

look a little like these (just use your imagination okay????)
I know, I know, I know, it's a totally different shoe and all.
Let's start by visiting my fabric closet (OMG, I just saw this pic and I really can't believe I'm showing you this.....I know what I'll be doing tomorrow, get ready, I'm sure I'll blog about it.)
Now, let's pick out a beautiful leather.  You can get real leather at a lot of different places.
This came from a flea market.  You can also get actual leather from designer upholstry fabric stores and a place called Tandy Leather, or of course I'm sure the internet.
now measure around your leg and cut a square to fit.  I dipped the front a bit too.  Allow 5/8 of a seam (and don't make them too tight if you wanna wear them over pants)  make them tight enough, however so they don't fall down.  I chose this color to be a little different.  Plus it matches my handbag.
Using a LEATHER sewing needle, stitch down the long side right sides together.  Press open and turn them right side out.
then wear em,,,pretty cute huh?

Have a wonderful Monday y'all!
