Camping Out in the Desert!!

Okay, I have done 4 things, no 5 things that I've never done before, wait no 6 things, wait, I don't know how many things I've never done before I came on this wonderful trip!
I've snorkeled in the South Pacific Ocean, I've ridden a camel, I've flown in a helicopter,
I've seen most of Australia, I've seen and touched a koala bear and held a kangaroo, I've ridden on a yolo board (and fell off and busted my butt) and if that's not enough hiked almost all around Ayers Rock 5 1/2 miles then went to a campground, ate campground food, and slept in a swag under the stars.
I felt my testosterone growing rapidly....
I had reached manhood.
Now, I am sitting in a VERY comfy bed back in Sydney awaiting the last leg of our trip.
New Zealand.
Unfortunately a dingo ate my battery to my camera and it is flat dead.
Really? How stupid was I to not bring a battery charger? I will steal Michael's pics and post them tomorrow. Which will actually be Father's Day and I will not be there for my sweet father.
Dad, if you're reading,,,,I love you!
We will be in New Zealand and back to the States just in time for me to get rid of my Australian accent that I've picked up over here!
I'm missin these two really bad bout now
Gooday mates!

The Outback!

And I don't mean the steakhouse!  We jumped on our plane early yesterday morning and arrived at Ayers Rock about 9:45 a.m.
What is Ayers Rock?  It is one of Australia's most recognizable natural landmarks.
We had an action packed day!!!
First we took a helicopter ride!

over Ayers Rock! Isn't it beautiful?
then we went on a camel ride!
I think this was my favorite thing to do!!!  It was SO much fun!

my camel was flirting with E!

 our guide was hilarious!

I am in love with these creatures!

then we watched an Aborigines dance

they taught a few of us how to dance like and ostrich!

and Michael was the prop for the Lost Boy dance

then of all things I ran into Joy Dawson who I have played tennis against back in Atlanta!
Can you believe that???
On to a dinner called The Sound of Silence

It was an amazing day!
Hope you have one too!
Tonight? Camping out in the Outback!

Koala Bears and Kangaroos

What is it about these sweet creatures that makes you weak in the knees?
We got to our hotel in Cairns yesterday and flew over to a zoo here that lets you hold koalas.
Only to find the the 50.00 cab ride was a waste and that they had closed the koala holdings for the day.
Suddenly this nice lady found us as we were waiting for our cab to go back and asked if we still wanted to hold one!!!!  OMG we all jumped up and screeched like little kids!!!
In a bit we will be headed for the Outback, so I will have no computer service for a couple of days!
Have a wonderful day y'all!

Lizard Island

I honestly don't think I have ever been to a more beautiful place!
This is our last day here and then back to Cairns and on to the Outback.
I e-mailed "W" and told him he's not going to know what to do with me when I get home!
I've been spoiled rottten!
anyway,
We will be sleeping in sleeping bags under the stars which will be both scary (have you heard about the dingo story????) and such an exciting adventure.
Yesterday we went snorkeling at THE most beautiful reef I've ever seen.  The sky was a glorious blue and the sun was out which made the fish and the reefs burst with color.  I think we saw every species of fish in the South Pacific.
I will show pics of that tomorrow when I have better internet service. We took tons of underwater pics.
After the Outback, I think E has another little adventure up her sleeve!
Stay tuned!!!
my blog is actually a day off due to not the greatest internet service in the world!
but hey, I think I can deal with it right!!!
 flying to Lizard Island

bye bye land, on to pics from the plane of the Great Barrier Reef

 flying into Lizard Island
 upon arrival!
the restaurant where the most fabulous food is served

the hammock outside our villa (where I took a 2 hour nap yesterday)

 cheers!
last night we dined with this lovely couple from Northern Australia.  They were delightful!
Today?
More snorkeling and then on to Cairns
then?
The Outback
Have a great day y'all!
