I Know You By Heart - Eva Cassidy

I'm working at the gallery today.  Um, Art of Oconee.  www.artofoconee.com Anyway, one of my all time favorite songs came on.  I just wanted to share it with you.  Eva Cassidy died way too young at the age of 28 of melanoma.
She was a beautiful songwriter/singer and this is a wonderful song to sit and look at art!
So,,,,that's what I'm doing (in between customers)
I also decided to try out some of my new camera equipment I purchased the other day.
I will say, a speed light is a must have.
So, without further ado.  Some of the artists with whom I work!
First up...
Cathy McIntire
I love the peace fullness of her work
I love, love, love her golfers
Next we have Shannon Candler (actually the horses are Cathy's)
all I know to say is just serenity....
then there's our incredibly talented wood turner
Mike Johnson.
WOW is what comes to mind
I mean how does he do it????
and I love this by Leah Jackson
and okay, I had to stick one of mine in here.
I mean doesn't your dog always
"Have you AT woof"????
Have a beautiful hump day ya'll!

What is it about a makeover?

What is it about a makeover that just makes you feel so good?
Sorta like when you get your car all cleaned up with a full tank a gas?
Okay, my pantry needed it bad.....it had gotten wayyyyy outta control.  and I'm talkin some food had been in there for years.
(I'm REALLY ashamed to admit that)
like this...
I'm serious I think this cereal was like 5 yrs old.  When did "Ice Age" come out?????
anyway, I decided to do a little "before and after" of my pantry makeover
here's before, total disarray
and here's the other side.  I mean I just couldn't get anything down without re-arranging the entire pantry
I did the "close your eyes" and throw it away thing
it was all expired and I still had to close my eyes.
I re-arranged to my liking as you can see we like pasta and pimentos.
now on to the other side.....oh, I am SOOOOOO happy.  It doesn't look like Martha Stewart, but hey some of my stuff is years and years old!!! hard to get that "fresh look".
next up?  I'm gonna tackle the Tupperware drawer.  hum.

NOW...here's what's left of our Labor Day weekend
WAIT!!! while we're on the subject of towels...we had this discussion, or actually a controvalsation, (a controversial conversation) (okay, that's...it's MY word, i just made it up)
this weekend about how to fold a towel.
I'm gonna show you the right way.
and I know this, because my mother-in-law told me.....years ago....over and over and over again.
and.....by the way,,,,she was right.
Here's how it goes
Fold the towel in half
then fold one side over half way
then fold that raw edge over the folded edge
then fold one side over
and then the other side over that
be sure to have the folded edge face down.
there ya have it!!! no raw edges showing at all.
Drives me crazy when people don't fold their towels right!
OKAY...I know,,,,I'm just a tiny bit obsessive.
But they look great in my linen closet.

Ut Oh.

Is today really Monday?  And is it really Sept. 6th?  And is it really 62 degress outside?????
can I give you a major "hands up" and OMG finally??????
Summer is offically over in my book and it can just go away fer good. period.
What a fun, fun, fun weekend we've had.
We've had my brother and his wonderful wife here and my sister, two of her kids and my mom along with Jordan, Eric, Evey and Lil B!
Poor Jordan has been a bit under the weather so she doesn't count as being in the fun category.  Not that she's not fun, she just hasn't had much fun.
We have eaten, and eaten, and eaten again
Including this one, who eats the most and never gains a lb.  I really think we came from different parents.
they wake boarded like crazy!
and Ever's rode the innertube
and they all jumped off "the rock" check out the shadow.  Cool huh?
then there's my absolutely gorgeous niece/godchild Claire
whom with her equally gorgeous cousin Harper"doodle" was pooped at the end of the day and had to take a napster on the swinging beds...I love teenagers
Harperdoodle loved hanging with Evers

and Val got some quality time with Lil Bitt
so did Clay!
but what was the fun part of the day?  and the "ut OH?
That is what Evey woulda said when
this little princess
put the jet ski in "forward" instead of "reverse" getting outta the slip!
"ut oh"
Let's just say he didn't mind at all hauling ALL the trash the quarter mile hike up our driveway for the trash man to pick up today.
"--it" happens!

Yesterday started like this....

I woke up to this
and then to this
everyone started rollin in around 3 so I got to spend some quality time with my lil man
and got to take a little nap with him on the porch
then Auntie Kim came and stole him away like a thief in the night
and mom watched with delight!
then J and E were wiped out and got in a pretty good nap (again on the porch) ode to new parents.....
and then we all gathered for a wonderful meal on a beautiful crisp night!
then my 6"4' nephew slept on the swinging bed last night.  He's in there somewhere!
Have a fun weekend ya'll!!!!

"ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?" AND a giveaway??????

I'm feeling VERY generous.  AND SO ready for football to start.  Is anyone out there with me on that? Can I get a "Heck Yeah?" Summer has taken it's toll and I'm ready for fall, the smell of a freshly cut football field.  I can just smell it right now as I type.  Chills run up and down my arms!
SO....in honor of my favorite team.....I'm giving away 3, yes THREE of these!!!
like I said before,,,,no not my son, or Joe Namath.  What they are however, are signed and numbered artist's proofs of my print "Missing Bear".   I sell them for 129.00 each and just have the urge to give 3 away!.
This is the original which is hanging in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame
It's not for sale
however.....they do have the rights of the 400 - 500 signed and numbered prints which are priced at 49.00
if you are interested or are are interested in visiting the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame here is the website
www.ashof.com
it is an AMAZING place to visit!
Now, this is how I'm gonna do this.  I'm going to keep this goin til 12:00 noon EST on Sat. Sept. 4th (in honor of the big day of football)  Even if you're not an Alabama fan (or Bear Bryant fan) I bet you know someone who is and it would make a great gift!!!
Oh, they are 30 x 30 and come with a certificate of authenticity.
They are also copy written.
Just make a comment, any comment will do, but you may only comment once.  And please be sweet if you are not an Alabama fan.....don't really want any fights on my blog :)
I am going to randomly pick 3 comments, so 3 people will win!!! I'll mail em out on Monday.

The Lost Boys of Sudan

This is Malith Wiek
The MBA Art Show is honoring The Lost Boys of Sudan.
Malith Wiek was a custodian for MBA and was found murdered in Nashville.
He was one of the Lost Boys and as I understand it, was trying to raise money to send back to families to buy cows.  I have attached an article at the bottom of which you can read.
I thought how appropriate to do a benefit to raise awareness of such an important cause.
I am honored to have been asked to participate!

What a wonderful show MBA had last night
There was a gentle breeze blowing and you could just feel fall trying to peek it's way around the corner.
I am the luckiest girl in the world.  I got to see so many of my old friends and heard so many wonderful comments on my art that I thought my head was just gonna bust! I was humbled beyond words!  It was just the most fabulous evening ever!!!!.
the best part????
My sweet Mr. W came to surprise me!
and
These two paintings are officially "off" the market. I am so excited to have sold them to one that I know and love, and another that I met and became quick friends! A special thanks to Connie for letting me shack for 3 days with her.

Here's what I love about this show.
1)  It is benefiting a charity other than the school
2)  It is going on for a month and there is still a whole lotta art!
3) This is an incredible cause,,,,one that I have quickly become interested in and feel passionate about
25% of sales go to the Lost Boys of Sudan
Check it out! The show will go from 8 - 4 every day at The Davis Hall
Montgomery Bell Academy
Nashville, Tennessee
my e-mail address is kbdr@aol.com if you need more info.
In the meantime you can read this
