Gettin Ready for the Holidays!!!

I LOVE getting ready for Thanksgiving!
As a matter of fact, that is probably the thing I am most sad about living in a condo away from family who I can entertain.
Just don't have the room :(
oh well.

When we lived at the lake, it was the norm to have everyone (like 30) to our home for Thanksgiving.
Now all my fine, fun stuff is packed away in storage and really, quite frankly, I wouldn't have a clue where to find it.

Anyway, I AM going to plow through the stuff to find my Thanksgiving things, because Aunt Kim to the rescue for Thanksgiving this year.

So, since fall and Thanksgiving are on my mind (yes, it's my favorite holiday) I decided to find a few favorite pieces of china.
China is really my favorite thing in the whole wide world.  Well that and a few other things.

Here we go!

I have a whole set of this!

is this not FAB???

and this?

have a terrific day y'all!!!

"Craft-a-holic" Mode!

I don't know why, but a couple of days ago I decided to go get some polymer clay and make some ornaments.
I've always loved hand molding but had never played with polymer clay.

What is polymer clay anyway?

I don't know really.   All I know is that it's pliable, and you bake it at home.

I think it's clay made with plastic.

It's really fun and really easy.
And kids about age 4 and up can play with it!

So, here is what I'm doing with MY polymer clay!

Aren't these fun?

I would have loved to show how I am making these with a step by step tutorial, but unfortunately my beloved camera is on the blink.
erg.

I will, however, give you a few tips!

1) Poylmer clay can be purchased through any craft store.  However, be sure and purchase the soft kind.
2)  Advise getting the liquid softener to help with kneading.
3)  Purchase a cheap clay carving kit
4)  Stamps are great, but the best looking one (in my humble opinion) are the lower case typewriter kits.  I found mine at Hob Lob.
5)  Use a rolling pin to flatten out the clay
6) Poylmer clay can be painted!
7) You Tube is a great source of information on using polymer clay

Have fun y'all!

The Cat's Outta the Bag!!!!

I received one of the greatest surprises of my life yesterday!!!

"W" and I are going to be grandparents again!!!
and truly, we could not be more thrilled.

I really, really thought it would be another year before any of our other children would even consider having babies, and really, I was needing another baby to love on.

My wish came true yesterday!!!

now, I've stolen a few pics from my sweet DIL but I'll direct you to her blog and you can see how she told Greg (my son) there.
So incredibly sweet!

So, what happens when a super creative, techie guy tells his mom he's going to be a dad?

He takes my instagram post (I'm not a fan of Expectant Moms parking)
and puts it on a cake....

and then he tells FB

equally clever Amy made handkerchiefs for their fur babies

hoping their children will be as behaved as their dogs!!!
Wow!

and then they went and got their lil pumpkin!

I would say after a wonderful Alabama WIN (Roll Tide y'all) our weekend could not have gone better!!!

Bacon Wrapped Crackers!

Really, is there anything better than anything made with bacon?
Doubt it.

So, when I was looking for a new tailgaten recipe this week, I found this on Pinterest.
Don't have a clue where I found it past that though, so I have to claim it!!!

y'all.
seriously.
I doubt I made enough, and I'm hoping they actually make it to the tailgate.

So all you do is this:
wrap a Town house cracker in one half slice of bacon.  Then add a little tsp. full of brown sugar on top.
Bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours.

It will fill your home with an amazing aroma.

I used 2 pkgs. of bacon and got a sleeve and a half out of crackers out of this.  I would recommend getting about 4 lbs. of bacon.
***be sure to bake on a baking sheet that has a lip or you will have a grease fire!

These will be devoured
in about 10 min. (that is IF they make it to the tailgate)

Roll Tide Everybody!!!!

have a fun day y'all!

From Tights to Ebola...

Am I concerned? Yep.
Am I in panic mode? Nope.

Am I furious about how the US and the administrations have handled Ebola? YEP.
I also believe the head of the CDC has done a horrible job and needs to be fired.

Do I think I could contract it?  Ya know, I really don't know.

All I know is that we in America think "it will never happen to us"
and then 9/11 happens.  And then Katrina happens.  Last year, the southern part of the US was shut down for weeks by and ice storm...

We were TOTALLY unprepared for all of this.
  Blindsided is more like it.

So, why aren't we more "pro" active here in the US?
Because we are spoiled and think nothing will ever happen to us!

So, a friend of mine posted this article this morning.  Please go here for some really informative information from a reliable source.

http://dtolar.wordpress.com/2014/10/01/ebola-a-nurses-perspective/

Don't panic, just be informed and PRO active.

have a great day y'all!

Lovin Tights!!!

I'm a "tights" lover from way back.
As a matter of fact, if I dug through my drawers, I could probably find some from 20 or so years ago....
Most likely they don't fit.

Anyway, now that the weather is getting cooler (thank the good Lord above!)
I'm ready to shop for some tights for the Alabama-A&M game this weekend!

I think I'm going to wear a cute black above the knee skirt, a white "collared" shirt, wine colored tights and some black wedge booties.
May even wear a hat!  Yes, a hat!
like this....
if I can find one...

so, back to tights.
Thinkin they're all the rage this year!
And I'm all about the rage sista.

These are the ones I'm getting from Anthropologie

Paintin Churches!

For the past two nights I have been busy socializing painting with some SUPER fun girls!

Thank you to Kim Casey for opening your beautiful home to us for two nights straight!

Y'all, these parties are getting wildly popular, and they are just so much fun!

Why are they getting so popular?

Because, aside from making new friends, you are really, really painting something that you will be proud to hang on your wall!
And, you are paying a fraction of what it would cost for me to paint for you!

So for this class, we painted churches!

This sweet lil thing and her sister made us all bracelets!

awesome pic!

making new friends!

Didn't they do a fantastic job!!!!

have a great day y'all!
