Things happen to me.
I don't know why, but they just do.
So, I was looking for my shoes for the wedding (cyber shopping) this a.m. and remembered something that happened to me years ago.
I had just bought my first pair of Brian Atwood shoes.
Now, if you've never worn a pair of Brian Atwood shoes, then you should.
They are simply the most comfortable of the high end designers.
I used to spend a lot on my shoes. Yes, I got caught up in the "shoes are not good unless they're expensive and
they have a red sole" crowd. I still love nice expensive shoes, but I'm a little more practical in my old age.
Anyway, we were going to the Bahamas. All the kids were with us.
I had this ohsobeautiful brand new pair of Brian Atwood shoes.
I had packed the shoes and some other stuff in my Louis Vuitton carry all duffel.
Well, as they were loading the plane, a young girl came over to me and said, "excuse me, did you bring a Louis Vuitton duffel?" I said "yes". She said "you may want to come look at this". I was like "what the what?" By the time I got over to the other side of the plane EVERYONE was looking out the window pointing and laughing.
My duffel bag was destroyed. Ya'll, I don't mean just damaged a little, I mean like it looked like it had gone through a meat grinder. It was shredded into pieces. All of my stuff was strewn out everywhere on the tarmac.
I mean underwear, bras, makeup and yes, my Brian Atwood shoes. The toe was cut off on one and the heel was dangling on the other.
Nothing in the bag could be saved. nothing.
The pilot went down there with a big black trash bag and dumped all of my stuff into the trash bag.
When I picked my luggage up in the Bahamas, I was met with a big black trash bag on the luggage carrier.
They then gave me an American Tourist piece of luggage (which I have and still love) and I dumped my trash bag inside.
A humbling experience.
When we got to our hotel, I looked in amazement at all of my stuff.
I mean really, I still don't know what happened but let's just say I'm glad it wasn't a person who got stuck in whatever my luggage got stuck in.
Well. What did I do?
First of all I took pictures of everything. I mean down to my mangled eye lash curler and documented all of my stuff and prices.
When I got back to Atlanta, I put every single thing in individual plastic baggies. The larger pieces went in those jumbo plastic bags.
I itemized each piece and cross referenced them on a master sheet.
I included all receipts that I had.
I put all the stuff in a big box and sent it REGISTERED mail (the kind that the person has to sign for) and sent it to the CEO of Delta Airlines.
About 6 weeks later, I got a huge apology and a check for 2,500.00. I also got a free round trip airline ticket.
Okay, back to Brian Atwood shoes.
He puts this little elastic sling in the heel to keep them from sliding off of your heel.
On top of being ultra comfortable.
These are what I'm looking at for my MOB shoes.
hey. I'm still not over the red sole. I can't help myself.
have a great day y'all!
