"Love"

I think my own personal web journal for all the world to read has turned into some kind of marriage counseling session.  Let's see,,,,I've written about Forgiveness, Compassion, Friendship, and Trust.
Funny,,,,,all of those things make for a good marriage as well as everything else in your life needed to make you whole.  In my opinion at least.
I'll just show you "W" and myself while I'm at it.
The person I love most in this world.
While I'm at it, I'll discuss marriage a little.
When "W" and I decided to get married, my parents almost had a fit. (you know, now that i think about it, they were probably really glad to get me off their payroll.....um, didn't handle money too well either.  I was 20,  and he was 24.  We had known each other and dated for less than a year.  Now days, (at least with my kids) that ain't gonna happen. Well first of all,,,they're older than 23 so really they can make their own decisions.
,,, I got really lucky.  It could've turned out really bad being so young (and me being VERY immature).  Luckily I had my best friend Becky to go through it with. 9 months and 1 day after we were married sweet J came along.
Becky was with me on that one too!  9 months and 1 week after she got married her sweet Abby came along.  Seems we used the same birth control.
but....neither one of us would've had it any other way.
"W"and I have a strong marriage.  We believe in family.  We both love our children and grandchildren more than life itself.   I'll be the first to admit, we don't go to church nearly as much as we should.  But you know what?  Does that mean we don't believe in God?  That we don't believe that He is our Heavenly Father and our Savior?
NOPE.
I happen to be very personal about religion.  I was raised Episcopalian and W was raised Southern Baptist.
Yep,,,makes for an interesting mix.
I am one of those that believes if you want to go to church go.  If you wanna sit at home and watch it on TV that's fine to.  If you want to have your own personal devotions with you and God. go right ahead. I'm very unconditional and slightly un"conventional" about religion.  I believe in being saved.  But, I'm not going to force my religion on anyone.  I realize that this is a controversial subject.  I just happen to choose to show people that I love the Lord and witness to them in my own ways.
We have 3 kids who love the Lord as well as their significant others loving the Lord.  I am so proud that they have chosen those young adults to be in their lives.
Why am I writing about this?
I don't know!
Ya know, I just start writing whatever pops out of this "C" student brain of mine!  (and thank you Konie for saying that I should've made an A in English/Writing) I actually did,,,,,it was the only A I made and ended up majoring in English!  Well, and Physical Education.  Interesting mix huh?
Forgiveness, Compassion, Friendship, Trust, and now Love.
I tell my son all the time.  Remember son,,,,forget anything else about a woman.....All she wants from  you is for you to love her more than anything and to be her best friend.  I really believe that.  Someone who will listen to her, cry with her, love with her, and mostly laugh with her.  Hold her when she needs you.
"W" has held me like a baby over these past few days.  He's literally rocked me back and forth.  Oh, how I've needed that.  He's been there for me and I love him so much for that.
Not sure why, but I want to leave you with a poem that i wrote to my mom when I was 12.  Pure and innocent....
It is called:
"Things I Like"
I like the things down on the ground
Like little ants that squirm around
I like the music of the flute
And little babies so young and cute,
I like to smell the warm fresh air
And get some shoes "a brand new pair"
I like the world I live in now
And big red Indians that say things like "How"
I like to look at the sky so blue
And Love to say things like "I love you"
I love you Mom
Happy Mother's Day 1972

My mom loved that poem.  So much that she needle pointed it into a 20 x 24 canvas and framed it for all to see.  I loved that she did that. (see where I get my obsessive/compulsive behavior?)
What a special, talented person she was.
When I left her last night she had developed a fever.  I think we are getting close to her going home to be with our Heavenly Father.
Please pray for peace.
Thank you again all for reading and commenting.  It means the world to me and it comforts me in my time of need,
Have a wonderful Tuesday y'all
edit...oops. it's Monday.

  7. Your advice to your son is simple and perfect. I’m going to pass it along to my children. I’m a Southern Baptist married to a Catholic. I’ve attended Catholic Church for 29 years and figured out long ago that there’s really not a dime’s worth of difference in what Catholics believe and what Baptists believe, but there’s a big difference in what each THINKS the other believes. I believe that, when it comes to Christian religions, the little details really don’t matter. We all have the same core belief. Besides, Jesus summed it up beautifully: Love your God, and love your neighbor as yourself. Hugs to you and your family. I’m praying for y’all.

  8. You are an inspiration. I hope writing all this helps you deal with it. I agree with Anonnmous. I am Southern Baptist. I went to mass with a Catholic friend when she could not drive. I go to the Episcopal church with my son and DIL. There is not enough difference to bother speaking of it. We agreed yesterday in our SS class that we grieve our Lord when we get too wrapped up in such things and don't focus on what we should be. Praying for peace for you mom and her loved ones. Keep em coming. Praise the Lord for a good man.

  9. I'm so glad you have a good man, as well as a good friend, to help you through this difficult time. Strong marriages seem so rare. Peace and strength to you and your family.
