"Thankfulness"

My sweet friend "E" sent me this bible verse this morning.
It is Philippians 4:6-7.
It is human nature to  worry, become fearful, or desperate when one's life in in excessive turmoil.  Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
You know, I think when you're going through turmoil and pain, it's so easy to forget the really important things in your life.  It is very easy to become "self absorbed".  To forget that others need you and others are having their own issues that you may not be aware of.  I have friends that quietly sit back and deal with their own stuff while comforting me and helping me through my healing process.  I truly, truly admire those types of people.
This week I received a beautiful orchid from some good friends.  Ones that just lost a parent of his and her own the same day that mother passed.  For them to think of me in their time of need was so special.
I have received so many beautiful cards, flowers, gifts from friends that I'm running out of ink in my favorite "thank you note writing pen"!
This was one of the most beautiful, precious arrangements I received from our boat captain Pete and his wonderful wife Leslie
It was a perfect example of who my mother was, beautiful yet simple.  I wish I could dry it and keep it forever.
Another simple yet beautiful gift I received was this.  Oh how I love this little group of vases given to me from one of my BFF's Connie.
Perfect, as a constant reminder of Connie and my mom.
As we speak my friends, E, C, and C are planning a special "spa" gettaway down to Miami for 5 days for me.  Oh how I CANNOT wait.
that's me,,,,right there on that table.
and....
with the help of Pete who will be taking us on "Moby's Deck" for a couple of days.
As I thought the gifts and flowers and cards would have come to an end, I arrived home from Atlanta yesterday to more and more cards and an absolutely beautiful frame from a good friend that I will treasure for ever.  I plan to put my mother's picture in this frame.
I gasped at the beauty of this thoughtful gift as I opened it.
Debbie and Scott you guys are SO thoughtful and giving.
You know, I am for some reason reminded of a quote that I either heard or (made up).
Not sure which one!
"Character is not built by the way you handle success, but by the way you handle disappointments in your life"
I really believe that to be true.
This has started out a very difficult and trying year for myself and my family.  But I am so thankful that I have wonderful friends and a wonderful husband to help me through this time.  With that being said, I hope I can be the type of friend that will put her problems aside and be there for others in their times of need.
I love all of you!
Have a wonderful day y'all!

  1. It sounds as though you have true friends who know the meaning of love and understanding:
    1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

And you know if you want to adopt me for your five day gettaway to Miami I'm game- just sayin ;)
