Fallin It Up!

Well....we have been one of the lucky ones to have our home featured on the Reynold's Home Tour out here at Reynold's Plantation, October 22.
SOOOOO......the fall decorating begins!
and, let me mention that Fall is my VERY favorite time of the year!
These poor wreaths had lost their luster....
but wait! I knew I could save these poor little Target wreaths with just a tad bit of ingenuity AND save some dough in the process!,,,so, they went from Summer wreaths to Fall wreaths just like that! Shazam!

Here's what I did:
First I spray painted them brown (with the help of Cooper) (he was so excited)

but wait! while I was letting them dry, I decided to try my hand at stacking pumpkins

first I cut down the stem so it had a flat top (I made sure my foot got in the picture, and yes I'm wearing white sandals after Labor Day)

then I punched wooden skewers in like this (you may need a hammer)

I plunged the next pumpkin on top of the skewers

repeating the process

I was left with these unsightly skewers!  so...

I covered them up with moss (don't tell anyone)

back to the wreaths.  I found these darling little miniature pumpkins in different sizes and colors

and cut some greenery out of my yard (this will be easy to replace when it dies)

using smaller skewers I jabbed the skewer right in that sucker and stuck him on the wreath

and did two others.  Then I had bought this beautiful rust ribbon from Gayle K to adorn my wreath

and there ya have it!  The start of my fall decorating

Total cost?  About 70.00 for everything (and 20.00 was the ribbon)
Have a great day y'all!

Three New Paintings

Hey, THANKS guys for all the advice on the chalkboard!!!  I went to Home Depot and found the magnetic paint and literally after 5 coats.....it works! Not great, but enough to put a magnet on one piece of paper. Piece of really good advice?  Make sure that paint is mixed up really, really well.  AND just throw away the [foam] brush.  That paint WILL NOT come out.  (it won't come off your hands either) After painting the magnetic paint, I painted over it with blackboard chalk.  AND.  I've decided that I am going to make a new one that covers the entire area.  So,,,,anyone want a magnetic chalkboard???? See what I mean about decorating my own house?
Now, on to some bidness.
I've got two art shows coming up and an extremely busy fall.  Whew!  I get jittery just thinking about all that is about to hit me.   So, the art shows are Greater Atlanta Christian Artist Extravaganza in Atlanta, and a new one for me St. Georges Independent School in Memphis has their Fine Art Show and Sale.
These are both in early November.   Like I have said before in a previous blog I like to take 25 paintings to a show.  That means I need to have about 40 painted.  And considering most of my work is large format paintings, that makes for a lot of BIG work!
Here are my latest three!
"Fall Trees in a Row"
36 x 36 mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas
1,100.00

"Six Angels"
36 x 36 mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas
1,100.00

"One Lonely Tree"
30 x 20 mixed media framed
850.00
oh, and by the way, they are for the show, but for sale now if interested!

Have a great day y'all!
I'm off to Nashvegas for a fun birthday party for a wonderful friend!

A simple Blackboard

I love this kitchen....
why?, look how grandmotherly it looks!  I mean farmhouse sink, old wood stove, blackbloard....that's it, it's the blackboard that I am in love with!  So,  I have this messy area that is DRIVINMECRAZY! in my kitchen.  Actually when we built this house 4 years ago I had wanted to add an office on the main level. Not a large one just a small one that would include a wrapping station.  We were already in the works, foundation was poured and we were already behind so we nixed that idea.  I regret doing that because it would have expanded my art studio also and given me room to sew with the extra room it would have given us downstairs.  Plus, all my "messy" paper work would have been hidden.   Advice....when you're building a home and you want to do something like that, go ahead and do it (finances approving) because you will regret it.
Anyway,
I love the blackboard in this kitchen.
So, I'm going to show you what I did.
First up, my messy desk (that sits right in the middle of our kitchen)
OMG, just looking at this picture gives me anxiety

so, I found this shelf that we will never use in the basement. (don't worry about the clip in the side, it will be hidden)

and I painted it with blackboard paint.  (I wish it was magnetic) and, I wish it was larger. oh well, I may re-do it.  and  When they come out with magnetic blackboard paint will y'all let me know?  Now all I have to do is draw on it and have fun, and mess my desk back up (that will be done today I have no doubt.) For now, I'm just going to write little sweet notes to myself!

I LOVE blackboard paint.  Anyone that has kids should paint a big square in their room for kids (and adults) to play on!
Have a great day y'all!

A Little Secret....shuuu.

I should be getting paid for this little "shout out" for this new website that I have just found!  Because I'm about to give it a BIG shout out.
Y'all.  OMG it's my newest obsession.
What is it you ask? If you haven't visited it yet, do so if you are looking for stuff for your home.
It is stocked full of items like the ones I buy at market, but no minimums and less than wholesale prices.  You have to chose fast because once chosen they hold it for you for 10 minutes so you can ponder your decision.  Then it's out of your basket and back on the sale rack.
They have different items every day.
Here are a few of the items I liked!

this armoire was 899.00, reg. 1,700.00

Have a great day y'all!
I'm gonna hit that lil white ball again with my bestest bud and wonderful golf instructor.
