The Cornucopia

Well I'm finishing up my fall decorating with the centerpiece for my table.
and by the way does everyone out there have fruit flies right now driving em crazy?
I've never had them before but for some reason they've decided to breed in my sink and make my life misery.  I've swatted and swatted til I can't swat no mo.
Really? I'm sick of those lil suckers.  Please tell me a magic potion besides the glass of white wine laced with dish washing liquid sitting beside my sink.  (I've almost accidentally taken a swig a time or two).
anyway, I decided to make a Cornucopia for my table centerpiece this fall.
Here's what I did.
First you need one of these:

then you soak an oasis in water for about an hour.  And then put it inside the cornucopia

you will need some small wooden skewers

start stacking some fruit like so.  I also used some of those cute waxed pumpkin thingys that are everywhere this year

I kept stacking fruit and pumpkins

but oops there were gaps in my fruit, so...

I cheated once again with my trusty flat moss

I filled the gaps and placed it on my dining room table on top of a round stick wreath.
Then I put bitttersweet on the sides

I was so excited that I set the table

then look what I saw outside!

and what just came up on FB!!!
The Photobooth from Greg and Amy's wedding!
oh and Konie,,,,doesn't that handsome young man look like a young Ken Clark? (Callen's date for the weekend)

have a wonderful Friday y'all!

  1. What a beautiful cornucopia. So happy you gave a tutorial on how to do this. I have crystal ones that were my grandmothers and have never used them...that is about to change!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend ~

  2. Gorgeous! And you are so not cheating with the moss- I've seen the stacked pumpkins done exactly that way in 2 specialty shops!!

  3. Fruit fly solution - pour baking soda down the drain and follow up with vinegar. Will also make your sink sparkly clean!

  4. hahahaha.....yes! Callen's date looks like my good looking husband probably did at that age:))) Which means her date will be even better looking in his 50's :)))))) Beautiful arrangement!! And thanks for your daily's usually the first thing I do when Ken leaves for work.....check your blog:))

  5. I've been behind on your posts, so just now had a chance to check out the wedding pics - so wonderful! The bride and groom make a lovely couple and it did look like a fun time was had be all. Congrats!

  6. Beautiful wedding pics! On another totally unrelated subject, where did you get your shirt in your new profile pic. It is very flattering on you.

  7. Hey Margaret! Thanks so much! It came from Anthropologie. And it's actually a sweater that has turquoise around the bottom. Totally love the "artsyness" of it! I was posing for a photographer for a magazine article that will come out next month! Thank you again!
