Medicine for the Soul

Well Mom's going back in today to have surgery.  They are going to irrigate her wound, pack it and pray that it can heal that way....again.  She will have a wound vac....again.
Here we go!
Last night I tried my hand at making her FAMOUS Potato Soup.  It was a special request from her...my sweet mom.  And to my surprise, it tasted pretty darn similar!  I'll post the recipe in a bit.  But first she got a little "Medicine for the Soul" from some special little people.  Just wanted to "share the love"

Evey had to make a little sock puppet
and then wanted Gam to try it on!
and then they all got some lovin!
and Harperdoodle polished Mom's nails!

and I got some lovin (there's that ref sweater again!)
 and so did sister
on to the soup....this is everyone in the fams request when Gams around
cut about 10 russet potatoes into cubes (depending on how many you're serving)
chop up about 4 stalks of celery
and one onion
dump it all in a pot
add water until all the ingredients are floating and then add a slab a butter
while that was cooking, Evey and I tried our hands at some chocolate candy canes topped with "bits o brickle"
unfortunately only one turned out!
after simmering the soup about an hour until the potatoes are tender but not "mushy" add about 1/2 cup of milk and salt and pepper it pretty well.  Let that simmer for about another 30 minutes.  Add some Wondra if it needs a little thickening
In the mean time let sister have some Lil B time
I woulda loved some bacon on top of this but we didn't have any
yummers anyway...
I had a sad day yesterday.  A friend passed away suddenly of a brain aneurysm.  Brenda, I will miss you and your sweet, beautiful smile and personality.
Blessings to all of mom's prayer warriors out there.
Please pray for a successful day today.
